Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

He’s not a machine. That’s the way he plays. In xx years time the history books will say he won yy competitions but the detail of a 72/62 won’t figure.

I can’t remember which 2-3 years it was but Johnny Miller won like that. I remember him shooting 3 consecutive 65’s on a course were others were shooting 68’s. It happens…
I’m not saying he is! But in a period where golf was devoid of Tiger Rory should have won more and the evidence is there to see how many times he underwhelmed and blew up in majors.

Someone of his talent and level can surely adjust and play more consistent rather than being average for his level then relying on shooting the lights out. I don’t hate Rory I’m very much non plussed about him to be fair. As I said he’s had a great career but it could have and arguably should have been better with the amount he’s thrown away over the years.

I think his swing, if slightly out of sequence, is destructive. It misses by too far. Also, if his putter is cold, it can be very cold. He can hit a string of great recovery shots into the green but inexplicably miss a string of very makeable putts.

All that said, to play with those flaws but finish so far up the FedEx & Race to Dubai… I think we’re too critical.

He has done ok

45 wins - including 5 majors

6 times winning European Order of Merit, 3 times Fed Ex

Think sometimes people expect him to win every time he tees it up and at times are too critical of him

Are we though! Isn’t that the point of forums, sports discussions and opinions. He had an excellent career but its discussion for a reason if we all agreed and had the same opinions/favourites the world would be very boring.

No I don’t expect him to win every time. I am still allowed to believe he has wasted and thrown away a lot of opportunities the evidence is there to see throughout his career.

I’ve already stated he’s had a great career I just believe when he gets to the end he will have to look back and see how many he missed out on.

Whoa, easy tiger…

I thought we were debating it. And “I am still allowed” to believe we can be too critical sometimes. Yes he’s blown comps, most noticeably the Masters but, equally, he’s stormed through some fields and pinched competitions.

You don’t have to agree with what I believe and vice versa.

I’m confused I think you have taken my comments out of context I’m not digging you or anyone out merely commenting I don’t agree we are being too critical and pointing out if we all agreed it would be boring and there’d be no discussion. Which is exactly the same as your last line here 🤷🏼

It's very easy to make the game sound so simple when typing out comments on social media.

There are not many elite players who remain among the top few players in the world for over a decade. There's consistency for you

As Hogan said “Golf is a game of misses, who misses best wins”. Basically doesn’t matter how well you play it’s all about who makes the least mistakes 🤣
It is what a pro told me once before a lesson. The difference between the good and bad players is how bad are the bad shots.

I agree. Although hitting a ball 380 yards also helps

On a different point. Just watching the highlights from today alongside the footie.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Marco Penge does on the PGAT next season. He’s an absolute joy to watch, the way he drives the ball it’s outrageous. Back to back eagles today and just missed another!

I believe he won the Australian Open in 2013
To be fair you might be right I didn’t think about the Aussie events but I think I’m right about 2017. I can’t remember him getting anything then 🤔

I’d have to check but he won the Tour Championship in 2016 and I thought his next win anywhere after that was Bay Hill 2018 !

He missed a lot of one year due to injury but I can’t remember what year it was.

He might have won a monthly medal or roll up in 2017 ;)

You might be right was easier to win then as there was no WHS 50 pointers being returned 🤣

Could be that year he was injured I’m getting old the memory isn’t what is was and it’s always been crap 🤣

He has had a great career there’s no denying that.
