Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

Would be nice if Fleetwood or Lowry could win

Cant help wondering how much of an advantage they might be getting over the field when its not drawn and you get to play with one of your ‘besties’ for 2 days (maybe even 3) compared to other players who will find themselves with strangers, or worse someone they don’t particularly connect with in the past

I know at my level I’m relaxed with friends, content with strangers but don’t look forward to the round in the same way if I simply don’t get on with someone (because of their pace/etiquette etc)
I'd bet we've all had a score go south when paired with a PP we didn't get on at all with or found irritating

Hmm 🤔

They sat 1 & 2 after two rounds in India when i posted the above a few weeks ago after great mates paired together and looking like they'll do very similar after two rounds this week, (again paired together)

Maybe it really does help performance at Tour Pro level too ?

edit: and wouldn't you know, after being joined at the hip through 13 a 3 shot swing puts daylight between their scoring ☺️

Incredible start to Hattons round earlier - 2 eagles and 2 birdies in the first 4 holes - he'll no doubt be miffed with that bogey on 18.

How many times have we seen this from Rory. Seemingly out of the tournament, goes out on the Sunday with no pressure and he’ll shoot 8/9/10 under to go from 20th to top 2/3.
Hasn’t that been the story of his recent career up until this year. Couple of average rounds then throw in a big round under zero pressure to finish potentially artificially high on the leaderboard so he still gets the plaudits of being the golfing genius of Europe. There no doubt he’s a phenomenal player, but I’d rather watch a Fleetwood or a Rai who have put in the consistency over the 4 days and really performed when the pressures on.

Queue Rory fans calling me out for being Anti Rory and defending their golden child 🤣

Yea I agree with you mate, that’s sorta the point I was making. I’m a huge Rory fan but this unfortunately has been a big part of his career.

Well the last round counts as well 🤷‍♂️

Certainly still managed to win a lot of competitions
And there’s the comment I was waiting for!

There’s no doubt he’s won a lot but look how many more he’s thrown away! He should have won so much more including majors but his ability to be very average compared to his peers them throwing a low round proves why he didn’t push in and become the force he was expected to be. Great player, great career but should have done more.

Some players post circa 67 for all four rounds to win. Others will post 72, then 62, rinse and repeat. Both players can win on any given week.

He’s not a machine. That’s the way he plays. In xx years time the history books will say he won yy competitions but the detail of a 72/62 won’t figure.

I can’t remember which 2-3 years it was but Johnny Miller won like that. I remember him shooting 3 consecutive 65’s on a course were others were shooting 68’s. It happens…
