Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

To stand up with 5 wood too, that’s still quite a narrow approach into 18 even with a 2 shot lead. 260 front edge no bother. Guys a machine.

If any man is set up to win a major over next couple of seasons it's Fleetwood. Nothing guaranteed obviously but I hope he gets one, such a likeable guy.
On current form he's not far off being the best player in the world! He has to get over the line and win one next year.

Brilliant golf from Tommy on Sunday. Chasing down the leader then holding on to a lead down the stretch.

The question of course is if he can do this in a major with heavyweight contenders like Scheffler breathing down his neck. But winning is a habit, and coupled with the Tour Championship win, he has made massive strides forward this season. I'd love to see him win a major next year, he has the game to win any of them.

Great event this. Big crowds, great field and a golf course requiring thought and penalising bad shots.

More please

Yes I agree, made a nice change seeing the players have to plot their way around. I wouldn't want this every week, but presenting a variety of courses that ask different questions is much more entertaining over the course of the season.

Fleetwood was more aggressive than most of the other contenders, pulling out a fairway wood instead of long iron more frequently. Would have been interesting if someone had tried a different approach and tried to hit driver. Although I only watched it closely on Sunday. Maybe the people who tried this on the first 2 days missed the cut.

This is the kind of course where Tiger would have demolished the field 20 years ago, stinger iron off the tee, shaping the ball at will with his irons.

I thought the even in India was pretty boring. Great to see Tommy win.

But where was the strategy? Everyone did the same thing!

We can at least stop the roll back nonsense now. These players will take any golf courses apart if it’s soft.

I have come to that same conclusion: the roll back will have no benefits really. Better to restrict club length and loft for the professional game

Prob not worth its own thread but GM asking: is the race to Dubai points system flawed?

https://www.golfmonthly.com/news/dp-world-tour-race-dubai-system-flawed

I think it is flawed and doesn't need a massive adjustment to sort it either. No R2D points for wining/playing well in a Major

A Major must be incredibly tough to win and rightly comes with huge rewards from trophy's, legacy/fame, OWGR points, etc etc, not to mention wads & wads of cash. However none are European Tour events and imo a players performance in them shouldn't count in the entirely separate ET order of merit race, just same as a win on another tour doesn't get R2D points

Just because a tour asks/chooses to sanction an event not on its Tour, it doesn't follow that it must contribute pts to their order of merit comp

A bit surprised none of them considered that option

I’ve always thought that majors shouldn’t be given any weight in normal tour overall standings. It skews the final look and gives to much advantage to the bigger players almost like it keeps them at the top for ego and because the tour think it’s looks better having a name like Rory as No1 rather than rewarding the players who’ve played a full DPWT season.
