Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

Please stop trying to provoke me and stick to the topic. Last time had dealings with you I got a warning and you got upset so I won't be interacting with you again 👍.

Anyhow let's hope there will be a showdown between the 2 of them at bethpage and we will see who comes out on top.
What did Burnsey do to provoke you so much that now you won’t speak to him?

Asking for a friend 😂

Without my banter you would all just be discussing what colour socks Rory was wearing.

Rory and Scottie are both sponsored by Nike so probably wear the same socks (I feel I need to clarify this by adding that I don't mean they share socks, rather they are the same design and colour. Rory probably has smaller feet so sharing socks wouldn't work).

I bet nobody on Tour wears Pringle socks any more. Maybe someone like Monty on the OAP tour. Modern pro's all wear little trainer socks below the ankle these days. I'd like to see someone bring back sock artistry. Rory could do this, I don't think Scottie has the flair to carry it off.

What was the format of the Pro-Am last week at the BMW? My Mrs was listening to Vernon Kay on R2 this morning and he was saying it was a 'Champagne Scramble' or something (she's not a golfer so didn't explain it very well). Never heard of that format so wondering what it was.
I hadn't heard of it before either. Investigation reveals that it is:
Par 4's and 5's - Each player tees off, select a drive and everyone carries on from there with their own ball. Best two scores to count.
Par 3's Each player plays their own ball throughout. Best two scores to count.
Stableford format. Minimum number of drives per person (presumably depending on size of team and number of par 3's. No idea about calculation of playing handicaps.

Not sure that is correct as the winners were -36 and all scores are given as below par, so can’t be stableford.

A champagne scramble that we have played is a Stableford

All players drive off.
Team chooses which drive to play and marks it (Chosen drive is played as it lies)
All other team members play from this spot. (Dropping in rough and placing on fairways, within one club length)
3 drives MUST be used from each player. Drives must be indicated on the scorecard.
All players finish out the hole with their own ball.
The best 2 scores are recorded (Stableford). The same applies to all other holes except the four par 3’s.
On par 3’s, all players play their own ball from tee to green and the best 2 scores (stableford) are counted.

You stated 'not that good'.

They are the top two players in the world currently and if you brought any statistical analysis to your trolling, you'd find it difficult to seperate them.

Rory wins off the tee, Scottie on approach shots and putting. Break it down further and include shots from the rough etc and they are neck and neck.

Talking about necks, you could do to wind yours in 😁
That last line made me laugh 👍

It will be interesting to see how he does at Bethpage...
For all his supposed dominance, his Ryder cup record doesn't quite match it. Obvs a diff format to just playing on your own.
At least he won't have Brooks, so maybe won't get humped 9&7...
Here's hoping though. 🙏

It depends whether they are playing professionally or not, away from the tour in casual play Rory likes to wear shorts and being a well brought up Gentleman he wears wool socks to just below his knees of natural colours to protect his legs from the whins.

Scheffler seems like the type of golfer who likes everything to be perfect and under control (he's very big on stuff being "fair"). Not sure 4somes is up his alley.
Let's hope not, anyway...

I was at Wentworth scoring for the pro am. The format was...

All 4 players tee off. The amateurs select the best tee shot and play their own ball for the rest of the hole. The pro has to play his own ball throughout. Only net birdies or better count towards your score.

You could easily score -7 on a par 3 if all 3 amateurs had shots. For example, the pro stiffs it next to the pin. All 4 players play his ball and tap the ball into the hole. The pro is -1 and the 3 amateurs are -2 for the hole.

That's just normal Tour Scramble rules they have in most pro-ams I think?
