Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

Of course he's good he's won majors.
Scheffler seems to win every other week though. Speith had a little patch where he did too but it didn't last.
Rory has won a lot but it's been sporadic. He's never dominated the game like others

Only one person has dominated the game for any consistent period

Woods

All others have had spells where they win

This season Rory has won 4 times - 1 major

Scottie 5 times - 2 majors

Rory still wins events each season and his record in the majors outside his wins is phenomenal

Career Grand Slam has always been a thing - was a “thing” when Woods won it as well as others

It’s a rare achievement being able to win all the majors

And yes Rory still has more majors

I would take 3 Masters wins and 3 Opens - inc a win at St Andrews (i.e. Faldo’s major record) > Rory’s haul of a Grand Slam inc. 2 PGA Champ wins

Not all Slams are created equal…IMO

Last 2 years majors
Scottie, 3 wins, 4 top 10s
Rory 1 win, 2 top 10s 1 missed cut.
Why adjust timelines to suit ?

Rory has had 33 top 10’s in majors in his career

Scheffler is on his way to becoming a player that people will talk about for years in the same way that they will with Rory

Not sure why there always is this rush from some to put the knife into Rory

He is one of the best golfers that’s played the game - one of the best European players that have played

Just because Scheffler won an event doesn’t mean it’s something else to criticise Rory for

There used to be a time when we used celebrate our top sportsman - now it seems some just want to knock them down

A lot of that will come down to personal opinions

Rory also won a US Open - something very little Europeans did in the past

The US PGA gets a hammering but the strength of its field is stronger than a Masters

Faldos record is superb , same with Seve - the three of them are prob the three best European golfers that we have seen

Saying that he's not as good as scheffler is hardly putting the knife in him.
He's the best UK player since Faldo. An incredible achievement.
Scheffler has the potential to be one of the all time greats though. Will he reach double figure majors? Possibly.
Will he overtake Rory in the next couple of years? Almost certainly.

Anytime Rory doesn’t win you are straight on here - you did it when you were Bob the Sock and continue now

Even when he does win like last week you will look for an angle to dismiss the importance of the win

When Scheffler gets more wins than Rory then stats will show him to be better

Until then they are both top golfers who are winning every season - there is no guarantees - we have seen golfers have hot spells then fall away Scheffler can do the same

Rory over a decade later is still at the top competing

Never a truer statement.
Please stop trying to provoke me and stick to the topic. Last time had dealings with you I got a warning and you got upset so I won't be interacting with you again 👍.

Anyhow let's hope there will be a showdown between the 2 of them at bethpage and we will see who comes out on top.

What was the format of the Pro-Am last week at the BMW? My Mrs was listening to Vernon Kay on R2 this morning and he was saying it was a 'Champagne Scramble' or something (she's not a golfer so didn't explain it very well). Never heard of that format so wondering what it was.
