Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

DJ is one of those players imo that if he bothered then he would be able to turn it on

But it’s down to motivation and just don’t think he is motivated or bothered now

Reed - ability is there and on a good day could win another green jacket
For Johnson (DJ) it has felt like that at times. Only 1 round but he seemed back on it today. Apparently drained a couple of long putts which helps. See if he keeps it up or slumps tomorrow.

Rory get's heckled and lets his inner child take control... 😂

Think this sort of stuff has been increasing and feels wrong that the players feel like they need to deal with it themselves.

Good job there is a calm, sedate event planned in September😲

Seems he is a college golfer.

The way to deal with it is ignore it - it was a practice round after all. Rory has just triggered a whole new level of heckling for himself and his team mates for the RC.

As I said, the inner child is strong with Rors..

Horses for Courses seems to be the mantra on LIV as players shine depending on the venue.
Rahm is just off the bottom of the screenshot here also at -4 under.

A fine start to the weekend for DJ.

I’m no Rory fan but does heckling like that really have a place in pro tournament golf

The wee nyaff involved is 20. Meaning the stinging barb he delivered happened when he was just 6 yrs old! If you can’t control yourself to behave like a grown up then there’s a lot more recent stuff to use against Rory

Yes....the leaderboard looks a lot better with him on it.

I’m a bit confused on how a leaderboard looks better or worse 🤷‍♂️

It’s a field with 143 players in it , do people really just want to see a handful at the top or maybe the sports needs diverse leaderboards to show there is strength in depth as opposed to a handful at the top every event

From a personal point of view, if McIlroy is up around the top of the leaderboard, I'm probably going to watch it this weekend.

If he wasn't, but Glover and Spaun are fighting it out, I definitely won't be watching it.

Sure, there are many who will watch regardless. But, there will also be many like me, who are more likely to watch if there are big players at the top.

So, in that sense, the leaderboard looks better with McIlroy there.

If you have been looking at the leaderboard of the latest PGA events (non elite) ones, it did not inspire me to watch all that much,
IMO the average fan wants to see the top players battling it out in the last groups.

You may end up missing out on some great golf

The sport needs to be about more than the top 10 players etc , it needs players coming through to challenge

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. We do like the idea of top golfers. The multi winners, the major winners, the guys who can play the shots even the other pros look up to. And we like to see those guys shooting it out between them for big tournaments like this.
But you cant fake it. The top guys are the top guys because come to the top more often than not. Its only by allowing for the fact that a Spaun can Glover can be involved at the business end too, that the achievement of the McIlroy or Scheffler is the interest it is. Without cutting too far back to the LIV thread, thats what they are trying but it ends up hollow and fake. Long live the Smalley or Jager. They bring value too.
