Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I don’t follow LIV and rarely pop into the LIV thread unless there’s an issue 😉

I know Jon Rahm has been allowed to play in Dubai this week, and my question isn’t about the technicality relating to his participation.

But given he’s playing in a DPWT event, not a LIV or co-sanctioned one, I’m curious as to how he is being allowed to wear clothing with LIV logos all over it.

I’m not trying to perpetuate the debate - merely asking why the DPWT are accepting of it.

Part of their contract with LIV is that they must wear LIV branding whenever they are playing etc

And it’s not against the DPT rules to wear other tour branding

Same as if a PGAT player wore a PGA Logo when playing on the DPT

That was rather the answer I was expecting, but given the huge division between LIV and the rest of the golfing world, I rather expected a different stance.

Thanks Phil.

I seem to recall the LIV players were asked to not wear the branded clothes but didn't push it when the players did.....

I did wonder.

I get what Phil says, but I also think there’s more of an issue when LIV golfers play PGA or DP events than when players from either of those two tours play on the other.

That’s why I thought the situation regarding branding and sponsorship may be viewed differently.

The difference with the PGAT is that LIV players can’t play in any of their events anyway - complete blanket ban
