Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

What people negotiate for in private then how they tell the story later in public to justify themselves are two very different things.

He’d attract quite a crowd. A single handheld camera with no access privileges, so just mainly filming the backs of peoples’ heads is never going to be the request that was actually made. Nor would it ever be a genuine dealbreaker one way or the other.

On balance I’m still with the decided to swerve it theory. On a top level pro course and pressure going round in +10 even a fair bit more would be a real possibility and probably not great for the image.

He’s made pulling out good for the profile though. Skilled media operator for sure - and as that’s his job then well done him.

He has played on the current “PGAT” is bad for the sport from those that right now are fans of other tours - it’s another consequence of the last 3/4 years

The whole thread on Twitter highlights it as well

I disagree with you there. Guys like Finch and Horvat are always extremely respectful of their fellow competitors and not wanting to put others off their game when they are playing professional events of any level. I really don't think Horvat would have asked for a massive entourage following him down the fairways. He'll have known that it needed to be discreet if it was allowed at all.

Ok, so because the factual evidence that we have about Horvats intention to film from outside the ropes, the same way the Bryan Bros have done in the past, undermines your pount of view, you’re calling Horvat out as a liar?

I bet you’re great fun in a matchplay knockout…

He cant just use the PGAT pictures to document the whole round, sadly, unlike LIV, the PGAT don’t have any shot anytime coverage.

Grant was there because of his YouTube presence - documenting the story would have been great for both him, the event, and the tour

I see what you did there. Nice product placement to fulfill your contractual obligation to mention Liv every hour.

I'm with you. Horvat obviously has no ambitions of being a professional golfer - his profession is YouTuber and he's committed to that. Hence, playing in the event and not being able to film it would be like one of us doing a day's work for free. It is a great opportunity, but in his world, that opportunity is to create good content for his channel - so if he can't do that there is little point in him taking up a spot in the field. I respect his decision.
He would make a lot more money from the YouTube video as well compared to his missed cut money from the PGAT.

Then I think he should have politely informed sponsers etc he won’t be needing any tour invites and if they do just turn it do immediately on the statement that it’s not for him because he doesn’t see himself as a serious golfer as opposed to posting a woe is me because they won’t ignore their media rights and let him film himself

It’s one or other for me

He could have easily played and had someone film on a phone etc
Sponsors would want him there though, his video will get over 1 million views. That's a lot of extra eyes from a demographic that probably doesn't watch the PGAT.

He had a hot spell in 2022 when his putter had a decent streak

other than that he imo has never been one of those in that top echelon of golf
Agreed - his timing was impeccable though. Top player for a year or two when he was just about the best putter in the world - take the big LIV deal right before he goes off the boil again. 😂

So having ticked off one Grand Slam this year (and discounted Spieth as his play off the tee is about as consistent as mine), we now get to play Grand Slam Hunt again next year!

Two in two years would be quite something…

In recent months we have seen a number of players showing some anger issues

There was some “hot” debate about Clark hitting a hoarding

Since then we have seen Koepka smash a tee marker into the crowd , Garcia smash his driver on a tee snaping it with the head in a diffrent direction, even seen a player stamping on his clubs as well as multiple players reacting to crowds with expletives and anger

Lot of requests for Clark to be punished in some quarters ( and was punished by Oakmont)

I know if they break a club through anger they can’t replace

But should there be some code of conduct in regards club violence ?

With no European Tour tournament now until 7th August at Trump International in the height of summer , can't wait to watch LIV at JCB this week.
