Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

The Scottish Open winner who has been playing on the PGAT since his turned pro 3 years ago

Rory and Gotterup seemed to get on really well. Were having a right old smiley chat walking down the 12th which isn't at all like the back-9-Sunday Rory of legend.
I'm guessing they were probably having a mutual laugh at Wyndham Clark's expense as he was having a fairly hilarious paddy down the whole back 9. He barely even looked at his putt on 15 - was clear by that point that he'd thrown the toys out of the pram and didn't care.
Also caught a fair bit of the prior group. Penge is one hell of a striker of the golf ball. Good to see Fitzpatrick back to something like what he can do although - almost unbelievably - he seems even less charismatic in the flesh :D

Gotterup deserved it. His shot into 12 was a thing of great beauty and a very tricky up-and-down on 16 straight after a very wobbly previous hole got the job done. Those two shots were the difference.

Just back from Ren and mildly annoyed at Rory.

On 16 he absolutely smashed the putt completely needlessly trying to make it when if he just got it to the top of the slope it would've trickled down for a tap in 4 and would've forced Gotterups hand, and at the least, would've been 1 back going into 17.

I think he was trying to be the hero for the crowd and hole the eagle putt but it was stupid and cost him any shot of winning. Fair play to Gotterup also, played some tremendous golf today against a respectful but muted crowd.
Good for you to be able to know what the player was thinking before he made the stroke (from 80 feet), but your analysis was made after the result of the stroke was known! (n)

In fairness I think he was expecting Gotterup to sink the birdie putt and probably was caught in between getting the birdie and being 1 behind or putting pressure on and maybe sneaking a lead

Bought a last minute ticket for yesterday and headed through to renaissance, I can never really be bothered trying to see your mcilroys etc. crowds are just nuts, spent majority of the day going round with Laurie Canters group, Keith Mitchell and Alex smalley aswell as a few other quieter groups.

Always amazing seeing these guys up close, they just hit it completely different, effortless. Ball travels like a missile

What a rubbish prize.

At other events the players pick up something nice like a BMW roadster.
I'm guessing most of them take a cash alternative? I was at the event a couple of years ago and the Genesis cars actually look really nice. Very few dealers though so it is hard to see them in person, other than at this tournament 😄

On tv and online the car looks like those cheap ugly MG electric cars

It would be one cameraman outside the ropes.

He can just use the PGAT pictures

They have media coverage rights and media companies paying millions - did he really think it would be ok for him to bring his own film crew to film him

He was given an exemption to play in a PGAT event - very lucky to get that

Those two brothers played in a DP Tour event without any film crews etc needed

Just threw away the opportunity of a lifetime for him

Seems a bit of a strange decision to prevent Grant from filming given that’s what he is all about…

Don’t know why you or he would think that. TV companies pay big money for rights to broadcast the PGAT and the contracts attached to that money will most certainly specify that other entities can’t just turn up with camera crews, start filming and broadcasting. They would definitely rigorously enforce the contract they have paid for.

Same as any sports event with significant broadcast value. He seems incredibly naive if he ever thought he might be able to film/broadcast the event itself.

Do you think Grant Horvat playing in and filming his rounds at the Barracuda would have harmed or helped the tv numbers.

He was invited for a reason…

The Bryan Bros filmed Wesley playing at Torrey Pines earlier this year from outside the ropes. Seems a strange decision for Grant Horvat not to be allowed to do the same.

He cant just use the PGAT pictures to document the whole round, sadly, unlike LIV, the PGAT don’t have any shot anytime coverage.

Grant was there because of his YouTube presence - documenting the story would have been great for both him, the event, and the tour

If it breaches the contract then it breaches the contract. Broadcasters and their legal advice would be FAR more concerned about precedent and slippery slope effects across multiple sports than a small viewing uptick in a minor event.

I get he’s huge and YouTube golf is huge but turning down a spot because you can’t bring a film crew is ridiculous, shouldn’t be given another invite, maybe give it to one of the thousands that would run through a brick wall for a chance at a PGA tour event and let him and the rest of these content guys stick to their videos
