Pro V1 or Pro V1x... looks like debate is settled.. (maybe)

I prefer the feel of the X but I'm not going to pretend I'm good enough to actually tell the difference in performance between the two

If I'm honest as long as it's not a distance ball. Don't find much difference between between a PD Soft or a pro v. Plus all in between. I'm not good enough, even when I was single figures.

Cant tell the difference me and all is use are pro v .. chop n change that much they seem the same ,

Honest answers i don hit the ball consistently well enough to notice

Completely agree with this. I think I could probably see a difference if I was able to hit 50 of each in turns of 5 X's then 5 V1s.

I actually think if Somebody very professionally painted the pro v1 on the side of Srixon Distance balls no one on here would be able to tell a difference!

I love a srixon distance. I judge my game of golf by how many balls I lose in a round... The srixon distance somehow sticks around the longest!! :-)

You can tell how they react on the greens. Short chips and approaches.

I agree... my game is not consistent enough to know the difference.
However, during the last couple of rounds, I mixed up my P1s and Xs. I usually hit my 7 about 145y. So imagine my surprise that the 1 goes about 145ish, while the Xs sail past it (but not by much). Same things with my 9-irons. I know it is not a very scientific experiment, but it was happening too often for not drawing conclusions..

I've used all of the titleist range over the last 12 months, I have found the prov1 to be the standout ball for my game (from their ball range) and have noticed a difference in my approach and short game.

As a high handicap player I didn't think I would notice the difference but I could see and feel it (maybe just in my mind!) for me having more confidence around the greens and from 90 yards in helps and the prov1 gives me that.

Mark,

One of the YT Pros did a video on this recently (Steve Buzza iirc). You will be right - logic is high hcp don't hit ball as crisply / consistantly so spinnyness of PV1 will help more. Low hcp tend to strike well / consistently so will give most balls nice amount of spin and therefore get smaller (but still worth having) increase from move from distance to premium ball.

golf balls don't spin (backspin rpms) necessarily in the way you think they might. has to be a center strike for them to behave as they were made too.

the proV1x spins less than V1 with the driver & longer clubs as you might expect, but then as the loft of the club goes up the V1x spins more than a V1 does with especially the wedges. in overall performance distance-wise they are pretty similar to the same swing speeds.

biggest difference is how they 'feel' on the part shots, wedges part pitches, chips & how they feel with the flat stick, whether you like a 'softer' or 'harder' feel/sound through those shots.

If it's white, round, and not too "clicky" I'll use it.
Unless it costs nearly £40.00 a dozen

Callaway "Super Soft" for me. £17.99 a dozen and a great ball. And if I oink one into the trees, I've only thrown £1.50 away.

Have used both the V1 & V1x and got to say didn't like either!! When using short irons and putter it felt like I was playing with a bar of soap and not a golf ball.

So will stick to my Dx3 and FG tour, both soft without the soapy feel, and a lot cheaper as well.

Having used both interspersed with each other, i'd be lying if I said I could tell you the difference. The only way I can tell the differences in balls is if it's a rock or not.

I choose my AD333's because they are luminous yellow, and they feel good off the putter (the only place I can tell a difference). I'd be incredibly surprised if 90% of club golfers could actually tell a difference in a blind test.
