Pro V1s (and Titelist) is not for me... Hello TM

I have played a fair bit with ProV1s that were gifts, picked up or bought. But I also play a lot of other ones. As my game has improved a bit (I am biased) and fuelled by a sherry too many over Xmas, I decided to invest in a move to ProV1s. I have stared introducing them into my game over the last couple of months. I must say I am struggling to keep them on the fairway. The shorter irons are relatively ok, but the longer the club the more difficult they seem to get. I seem to generate a lot of side spin (fades or ball keep bouncing to the right resembling a Moeen Ali delivery) or I am losing distance. I sometimes play my old war horse - Taylormade Penta 5 - and I almost always get a straighter flight and generally am longer!! I don't think they make Pentas anymore or they are called Lethal, Poison, Serpent or something else. I have about 5 more dozen ProV1s to go thru but I am starting to think that it might not be for me. Are P1s not for everyone???

Also realised thAt most of the bats are TM. I was saving up for a Titelist custom fit, but I might just go for SLDR irons - they give atleast 17y guaranteed and maybe even loft up. The only bit of Titelist kit that work for me are the Vokey wedges and they are staying. Is there much shame in admitting you love TM?

According to Titleist they are for everyone!

Pentas turned into Lethal's that have now turned into Tour Preferred. But I sometime see Penta's still on sale.

I'd say a ball will make very little difference if you are comparing premium balls to another. But if you are feeling more confident with a Penta then go for it, they are certainly a lot cheaper.

As for loving TM then I've always rated them, and currently they seem to be producing the best drivers. But I doubt the SLDR irons will go on about lofting up and 17 extra yards as that technology was for the woods. But I may be wrong.

I usually play the Pro V1x. Last night I found a Wilson Staff FG Tour and decided to play a few holes with it.

The Verdict? I absolutely hated it!

The ball was so soft and seemed to spin a hell of a lot more off the tee, but gave me no more control around the greens than I already get from the Titleist.

Hit an FG Tour, then a Callaway Hex Chrome and tell me you don't notice a difference :D

I am liking the ProV1x at the moment..........only because I won a dozen and they are all numbererd '99' which is quite a novelty. Absolutely nothing to do with how they perform on the course :p

I always find the premium balls to spin too much sideways off my tee shots

I always seem to hit my better shots with the less premium balls like a Soft feels, mizzy 201's etc after that though I really can't tell the difference between any balls that aren't proper distance rocks

I bought a load of Burner TP balls there recently, found them on Gumtree and remember playing them before and really liking them so got these and still like em! Me sorted for a while

I prefer the tour preferred to the prov. Can't say I have noticed them being longer or straighter, but I defo prefer the feel of the tms around the greens.

TP is a great ball, but I have recently started using the Prov1x I had in the cupboard and it is much more to my liking than the standard ProV1. Having said that, the B330s, Z-star or Hex Black Tour would be my preference
