Anyone else think its the coolest thing added to golf coverage in recent years?

I love seeing the ball flights of players, i think its especially good on 13 @ Augusta as its hard to follow the flight off the tee!

Yeah I agree. Shame they can't do it on all shots. It's fun to see how much each player moves the ball. Funny that very few will ever hit a straight shot.

it is good to see how they hit the ball. Would be nice to have a camera shot of the landing that gives perspective too. More often than not you'll see the pro tracer and then the ball bouncing along some grass, but no perspective on where that is in relation to the rest of the hole.

Except Rory, the amount of times you cant see the descent line because its blocked out by the ascent line is mental!

I was telling my wife about how amazing the shot tracer is, her response........ "why don't you tie red ribbon to your ball?"

Genius.

I personally love it too, I think they should try to show alot more of the tee shots with it, It does give that something extra watching it

Does give a very good insight into the height and the shape of the shot the pros are looking to hit

I'd love to see it more, but I remember reading about it and it's incredibly complex. Requires a very heavy camera that is mounted on a stand to make it moveable so that it can be directly behind the player no matter where they are on the tee box. It's also very expensive, which is why it's only used on a few holes per round, and requires a lot of space on the teebox, so it's just not possible on certain tees. I love it though, gives a great perspective on the shape the guys are hitting, and how high they're hitting it.

This guy uploads all protracer footage from each round on the PGA (and certain LPGA tournaments) to Youtube, so if you fancy just watching some Protracer, give this a watch:

All fun and games until....

super technology and insight into what the players actually do out there.

Could do with one on each of our tees so that we have a clue where the ball actually ended up!

The pro tracer I very good, but have you seen the new graphics Sky are using? The pop up 3D renders of the green at Augusta and the player swing sequences, now that is pretty good.
