As a member of Prestwick St.Nicholas this was my first chance to play Prestwick St.Cutbert in a team match. I have heard many different views on the course and was looking forward to playing it for the first time.

It didnt help my day to lock my car keys in my boot but at least I had all my gear out of the car at the time! The problem with the keys could wait...

The club itself is steeped in history and was founded in 1899 and moved to it current location in 1963. Originally it was situated in ground that is now part of the grounds of Prestwick Airport. When the club first moved to its new location the ground was flat and has some trees in places. Over the years the club have developed the course by planting thousands of trees, which have now matured along with many more recently planted ones. They have also brought tons of soil to the course over the years to give the holes some definition up the sides. This gives a nice feeling of a parkland course and although you are close to the airport and town you don't think that.

The course itself was in fantastic condition and with many two tiered greens that were running true and with pace. The greens all had enough slope and borrow to keep your attention when putting. It has no less than 9 doglegs which means accuracy is vital of most tees. Playing it from the whites really is a tough test of golf. Bunkers are also well positioned and maintained.

As expected at this time of year the rough was penal and any stray balls either found some deep stuff with only a hack out or you were in the trees with only a sideways shot available.

On the whole it was a very enjoyable days golf and the catering in the clubhouse was super. Anyone who has the chance to play will not be disappointed in my opinion. Although I still prefer my links golf I will definitely be back to try and not lose as many balls as I did!

It just gets an "awright" from me, nothing great but has a few nice holes.

Played it a few times. Wouldn't rush back but wouldn't not go back if offered the chance if you catch my drift.
