I went there yesterday afternoon with the wife and a mate. Living only about a mile away, but never playing the place I was looking forward to it. Just for everyone, the car park was perfect! The Pro was excellent and a quick wander into the bar area to search for my mate saw us greeted with an A4 piece coloured bue paper with our names on it (along with others), in the foyer on a stand, who were due there as guests that day. Proper smart! The course has been an Open qualifier in the past and is rated in the top 100 of courses in England. A check on the HC's and we all got a hefty rise off yellows. The course was bone dry so we got massive amounts of run, andas I'm driving the ball well I was over a few humps off the tee and although it seemed unlikely to happen, I lost balls this way, which was a bit frustrating. Hitting through a par five in two was annoying as well. I'm just bragging!!!!! The greens were perfect, although very slow. This was due to the fact the greenkeepers have just done work on them and are reluctant to cut them too low until they are confident they are properly healed, fair enough. This caused us putting problems as we all thought they looked as though they would be fast. But apparently, before the work was done, they were like lightening. There are alot of dog legs left and right, and loads of humps and DEEP hollows that you have to clear on the way round. If you can't hit a decent ball you are going to struggle. It's a great challenge. Looking down the fairways to pick a spot to hit to to ensure a safe chip on to a green or to avoid a big bounce away from your intended target, like mine on the first, lesson learnt. Make sure you hit the greens otherwise nasty bounces will ensue. Some daunting tee shots to encounter. Brilliant par three's. You can see the green from the tee (except the 16th) and well guarded. It's a tough walk round as well. Up hill and down dale all the way round!. A quick mention for three separate young lads (13/14 ?) we let though. All three were great players and soooooooooo polite. An absolute pleasure to chat to as they went though. This, for me, showed me what the course was about. Proper values, proper manners and a great understanding of how to look after a course.

Yes I'd join in a heart beat, if I had the money, but would they let me in?

Lovely course Prestbury, I believe they have spent a fortune on improvement recently but I haven't played it this year so haven't seen what they have done.

I hate to think what the fees are

only 3 times what I pay now, think I will stay where I am, despite it being a cracking course

20 years since I played Prestbury . I’ve just looked at next years Senior open and it’s £75 .. Fo you think it’s worth it Crazy face ? How does it compare with Delamere & Sandiway ? I’m in charge of booking senior opens for my pals and these 3 have been mentioned

At £75 it's worth it. No problem whatsoever!!!!!

Pike Fold is a cracking course. One of my favorites. Played it last week in 30 Deg heat and for once played it well. Should have scored a lot less. Hit two par four greens off the tee. Awesome!!!!!!

I prefer Delamere and Sandiway. But that's my preference.

Played it a few years back on a freebie, course is great.

Glad you enjoyed it. I’m lucky to be a member. Shame you didn’t get the greens at their best. They break me every flipping week!!!

I love the layout at Sandiway. Sandiway, Delamere , Prestbury in terms of courses for me.

Delamere is just too quiet for me.
Do you mean literally quiet, ie no noise and it is eerie, or quiet in the course and clubhouse being empty too often? It's an interesting comment.

No mate. I am splitting hairs a bit here and just to be clear, I do love the place and have a couple of friends who are members.

But for me the course and clubhouse are too quiet and it lacks a ‘club’ feel. There’s not many competitions and when there is, you just rock up and go out in pairs. The members like it that way which is ok by me.
