I think golf is one of those sports which pressure and mental game have a large say in how you get on. Do you crumble under the pressure of a four ball waiting for you to tee off or letting you through knowing you're being watched? Or do you thrive from it and try to show them what you're made of?

Pressure really is one of the reasons why I love golf, having people watch you and you know if you don't let it get to you and hit a nice shot it feels so much nicer. :)

Its one type of pressure and one that I rarely notice, I am so used to it from a busy summer of golf last year that I don't even notice they are there! I think you will find that is then case from most regular playing club golfers.

On Thursday, I played on my own, and I 'played through' about 7/8 groups! I never scuffed any shots when being watched, but when I had no one near me, I often hit bad shots. This may be down to focus, but I've always seemed to enjoy a bit of pressure when playing in front of others.

Pressure is relative be it the chance to shoot a PB or win an honours board event. I think if you don't experience it that often then you can definitely lose control of your swing and get ahead of yourself. The more you experience it the more you'll be able to control your emotions. Surely being in contention is why we play comps

Have to agree. I thrive off pressure and myself really enjoy having people watch and teeing off first. It really is the best thing when you have to play through a four ball and nail a 8 iron onto the green.
