I suppose this follows from the Els thread but when I was watching the presidents cup I thought it was a good spectacle but I came away thinking, is it a real competition or an exhibition match to make the Yanks feel good. If a real comp why were Oosthuizen, Senden and Bae missing who would be there on world ranking. Certainly it's no Ryder Cup.

But I also wondered if the Seve trophy would be better regarded if it was Europe against the rest of the world (Yanks included).

Not sure the Seve trophy shoud change. Its good preparation for some of our fringe players to get use to RC style matches and think it would lose some of its image and charisma if he became a global match

Not sure about Bae but Senden and Oosthuizen have possibly only just overtaken Els and Goose which may have fallen after the cut off date. Oosthuizen had picked up a few last couple of events while Els and The Goose have kinda been in freefall most of the season through injury and general poorer form.

This is the points table. http://www.pgatour.com/r/stats/info/prescup1.html?187

Norman made a poor choice in Allenby with one of his picks as he had been showing no form whatsoever.

The timing in Aus made it hard to get into over here but I get into it almost as much as the Ryder Cup.

I only watched it to take a look at Royal Melbourne - very rarely get to take a look at the top Australian courses given that the Australian tour is basically non-existent and therefore hardly any tv coverage of the Australian events in the UK. Looked every bit as good as everyone says it is. Other than that, wouldn't normally bother to watch the PC, and certainly won't the next time when it's played in the US.

Seve Trophy should remain as it is - great way for GB&I and Continental Europe to prepare for a Ryder Cup the following year. Gives an early indication as to whether those on the fringes of RC selection are suited to matchplay, which is their best format, and who they could possibly partner.

i think it is getting bigger and in time will be more of a spectacle.it certainly isn't a ryder cup but there is no reason why it can't be big.

i certainly enjoyed watching it and even though the us won again it wasn't as one sided as you think.definately some poor choices which might of made a difference but in saying that some of the guys performed brilliantly especially on that course......
