I think if you show a good aptitude for the game and have "what it takes to get too scratch" then getting to cat 1 should be straight forward enough!!! then the work will begin.
One of the young lads at goswick took up golf in the summer (Aug)of 2005 off 45 he got to scratch in June 2009 so it took him under four years it took me 6 years to go from 28 to scratch but we where both juniors at the time and had a lot of time practising without having to keep a full time job.
