Anyone seen the Poundland Christmas Adverts featuring the Elf on their Twitter site.

*Warning* PC Brigade will be offended.

Was looking at it on the train home after a rather boozy lunch with my new team members and thought it was great!

as expected some found it offensive so I told a few they were miserable blighters!

some took offensive to that and reported me to the twitterstazi

Initially mildly amusing but, as a Christmas advertising campaign, I'm struggling to see anything in it to entice me to go into one of the shops.
People say that the point of an advert is to keep people talking about the shop/product/service......
I say the point of an advert is to get me to buy/use it......if it doesn't then it's failed.
And this fails on every level I can think of.
Wouldn't surprise me if it becomes "Ratner-esque", probably not but you never know....

I think this is deliberately provocative in the style of Paddy Power adverts. It has people talking about the shop, it goes into your subconscious. I suspect they would be chuffed to bits if it got banned, increasing the publicity further.
