These types of threads always frustrate me.....I'm never using X again since blah blah blah....Of course I understand the sentiment if you had a bad experience - BUT someone, somewhere has had a shocking experience of EVERY courier company. If you don't believe me search the net.....start with....I'm never using (insert your favorite courier name here) again....You will find hundreds, if nto thousands of bad reviews of the lot of them.

We all stick with one until they let us down and move on. That's life. Out of interest - I have used My Hermes over 100 times with 100% success rate, as I have many other companies. I will use whatever one offers best value for that package as it differs widely for different types of packages and locations.

They are all as equally able to screw up as the next. I've seen no evidence to suggest otherwise.

I generally agree. but were your comments aimed at anyone in particular as I didn't spot the "I'm never using X again since blah blah blah..." on any of the 2019 posts?

Well a mixed week for me. Sent something out (not golf) by myhermes and that was delivered with no issues, but for the item I was originally expecting to receive yesterday (same carrier)

Probably be held up by the snow next :(

Snowed last night and still coming down now, so as I guessed that is probably the next hold up.
Frustrating that on Wednesday a around 9-am the package was probably 20 minutes away from me. Now, two days later, who knows!

Hermes are the worst by a long way.

My daughter ordered some clothes last year, about a week before we went on holiday. It was supposed to be 48 hour delivery, but they didn't turn up before we went. She was gutted but was still looking forward to getting them when we got back.

She had instructed them to leave with a neighbour if we weren't around. Got back, card through the door, went to next door, but they didn't have the parcel. Then looked at the card again, courier had written "parcel left in recycling bin". Yep, you guessed it, binmen had been round while we were away, and her clothes had gone to the recycling plant. Never got them back.

Gave the courier a bollocking next time I saw him, not that it helped.

Actually feel sorry for the guy - he drives about in a clapped out Toyota that is stacked so high with parcels he can hardly see out the windows.

DHL are decent - got a phone delivered this week, text from them the night before to say it was coming, text first thing in the morning with details of one hour delivery window, and link to track it live telling me where the courier was and how many stops before he would get to mine.

Not quite sure why you'd let such things frustrate you, or use google as a search function in that way when you could actually find some relevant survey data which proves the poor efficiency of the likes of Yodel and Myhermes.

It's not even really down to personal opinion, stat's show MyHermes / Yodel are complete dog doo doo. Yes whilst anyone and everyone could have good or bad experiences with any courier it's quite clear which are most likely to cause you hassle and let you down.

Exactly this. I use Hermes for the items I sell on ebay, purely because they are the cheapest option and I don't want to potentially put off buyers with postage costs of £12-20 when it can be done for £5. So far they've not let me down, touch wood, so I'll keep using them for now.

I found this interesting though. Are Hermes the delivery equivalent of Uber or something?? I'm never at home when deliveries get made so I assumed they had proper vans and everything like the other companies.

from the Hermes website

What type of vehicle do I need?
Any size, make or model of vehicle is acceptable as long as it has a valid MOT and insurance.

the drivers are self-employed, and get paid a pittance (they don't get paid for fuel or any other costs, and need to pay extra insurance to cover the stuff they carry).

Which is why you get cases like this, when people hate their job they don't care. So they pretend they attempted to deliver even though someone was at the address on every occasion they claimed to have tried...

It may be ok from the sellers end as it's cheap and usually finds it way there, but for the buyer it's often late and lousy service. Almost 2 week turn around for a 48 hour service.

Most buyers will expect to receive a club in a 'proper golf club box'.....they type you receive clubs in. You can generally get one or two by asking golf shops/pro shops/golf retailers for them. If your going to buy/sell, best to hold onto boxes that you receive.

Also don't just throw the club in the box to rattle around. Use some type of packaging inside the box and/or around the club head/shaft etc to hold it in place inside the box and give it some protection from the knocks the box will get during its journey. Bubble wrap, packaging brown paper etc or at worst magazine/newspaper even
