Poor Show.

At my club this week we have Fife boys vs USA vs Canada they play at mine Leven Links and this Drumoig (strange choice) anyway we were playing yesterday and the team from the USA are just oblivious to whats going on around them ,fannying about on greens and generally slow as hell.

Anyway today is our sweep day so we're on the 3 rd green which runs parallel to the practise strip in away when it all these kids started firing ball after ball on to the 3rd green when we were on it they just didn't give a toss.

Next moan on the 12th green which is near the 5th fairway one yank and his dad walk straight across my mate who is about to chip onto the 12th ,now the kid has hooked his from the 5th dumps the bag down and starts yacking with his father oblivious to my mate 10 yards from him then another stands right in front of my mate and dumps his bag, by this time my big mate is raging and he did tell them to move in certain words as we'd had enough but they couldn't see what they'd done wrong.

My point is do the not get taught basic golf etiquette in the USA so are they just so far up themselves they don't care.

Anyway we must have picked nearly 30 brand new Pro V1s between us on that 3rd hole so happy days.

Yanks are a different breed bud, it is just how they are Loud/Brash/Think they know best and they cannot see or accept they have done owt wron

I've played a lot of golf in the USA, they are generally pretty oblivious to others on the course. Slow play, hootin' and a'hollerin, poor etiquette, bad dress sense......it's all in there.

We're talking about a nation where you're sure to hear someone shout "MASH POTATO" when someone drives off a tee.

That's very poor but I guess we cant judge a whole nation from just I group of youngsters. I've played with Americans out there quite few times and they've been friendly and courteous on a course in my experience.

And on the professional scene take Mickleson, no better example of a gentleman on a golf course.

I know the feeling and have asked myself and others the same thing.

We get a fair few Americans playing our course and i would say the maj are as you say Oblivious, shouting a hollering right next to you either butting or driving. We had a some i think they were all connected to the film Ind a couple of monhs ago and even 4 holes away the noise was unbeliveable.

And get this i was playing in the County Champs this year and our 3 ball were allon the 18th Green at Nairn and while one of my group was putting two American Guys from a big group walked across the 18th green while he was putting. I looked at them and they stopped right behind him.... 3 feet behind, he gave them a volly and the look on their face you would think it was perfectly normal.
To make matters worse as we we marking our cards the noise from the Practice putting green was pretty loud.and as the 3 balls landed on the 18th green from the group behind us, 3 more guys from this group walked straight across the green towards the practice ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Florida a couple of years back I watched an American fella who must have been in his 60's + chase after an alligator and started hitting it with his wood after it took his big shaggy headcover that fell off his cart.

I was in stitches. He only stopped when his playing partner realised what was happening and dragged him away. All for a $20 headcover!

I used to play a lot of golf with Americans back in the day on a US military base.About 10% were gentlemen, the rest were just totally ignorant, on one occasion a guy oblivious to my ball ran straight over it in a buggy

Patrick we get the same we have many visitors from the US and they all go to to the practise ground first but instead of going around the back of the 9th green they all walk in front of it I'm amazed none have been hit yet with balls coming in.
A few years ago in Ireland i did play with 2 yanks one was a pain in the hoop shall we say and the other was a fanatstic fella and just apologised for his mate all the way around.

we used to have a 'mini Ryder Cup', we'd go over 1 year and they would come here the next for a weeks golf in the Ryder cup format. It was usually a great time, good people that were lots of fun, great micky taking and very courteous to everyone......when they realised it

They are very extrovert and loud as well as enjoying life.......I would take that anyday over a bunch of dour faced quiet boring brits that actively seek out anything negative to moan about

It's refreshing but I couldnt take it for more than a week at a time:rofl:

yes I read that and of course don't condone it, however, you get idiots in all nations and I wont repeat what I've seen some Brits do on greens/holes/bunkers and tees that make the yanks crossing over seem like a really nice thing to do
