Hi all,

In this poll, we want to know how many golf lessons you've had in 2014. Why so many/so few? Have they helped your game? How does this figure compare to previous years?

As always, comments are much appreciated.

Hope all is well,

Nick

I've had none this year for various reasons:

1. Lack of time
2. I like to figure things out by myself
3. I know a massive issue will be my grip and I don't want to be put months back by changing it
4. Fear of having to find a "decent" pro who I get on with

None, not got the time or the facilities anywhere near to practice therefore making lessons worthless. I've got this far without them and everyone says you have to be prepared to get worse before you get better !!!!

Have had none this year or any year.

Never felt I needed any lessons

I've gone with 11-15 and it would be there or thereabouts. Tend to have them every 4-6 weeks but sometimes more frequent if working on a specific swing change. That's through winter/pre season and then general lessons to keep things in check and stop bad habits creeping in.

It works for me and my game and handicap is testament to that. Without lessons I'd be a far less accomplished golfer and would probably have quit the game about 4 years ago - when I found Paul Ashwell and started having lessons with him.

5 (still got one left to use which I'll take next year). After playing for 20 odd years and thinking I had a swing like Rory's I realised after seeing some pics of my swing that I actually have nothing of the sort. Decided that it would be better to see a pro than try to search around on youtube.

Just wish I'd done it earlier in my life. Honestly can't believe the change so far in my swing (only played in 1 qualifier since last lesson so no change on handicap yet). New stance, new take away, new follow through and finish. Got my hips and shoulders into the swing rather than just my arms and flicky wrists. Plus it was done and explained in a nice simple way that I understood and I could see why he wanted me to change things.

Looking forward to next year. Hopefully my handicap will come down a bit. Plus I'll definitely go for more lessons.

I had a block of 6, 3 of which were this year. I restarted playing regular golf late last year, so booked them to get a picture of how I was swinging and where I needed to focus my practice time.

it took a while for the changes to sink in, but my game is much better now than a year ago, so yes, I'd say they had a positive effect.

5 or 6. In the middle of a set of 4 as my hook was beginning to destroy my game and enjoyment . Plus I made the French rugby team look like the model of consistency, depending how bad my hook was. I could shoot anywhere from 84 to 110 depending which version of me turned up.

So wanted someone to really sort out my fundamentals and to try and be more consistent. Early days and certainly lots to work on, but some slight green shoots of recovery.

Ive had 4.

Needed someone to take a cold look at my swing and give me some advice. Went to see Alistair Davies at FofA and he has helped me completely change my swingpath and neutralise my shot shape. Went back for a few follow ups throughout the year and expect Ill continue to do the same next year but in a far better place with my swing than I was at this time last year

I have had 6 lessons. Took the game back up in May and was very inconsistent and wanted to improve that. Before the lessons I would never of had the confidence to enter a competition, now I'm really keen to take part in some competitive golf.

I used to get lessons on a Saturday, but then started playing in comps, so I had a couple at the start of the year and one a few month back, but none since.
