In a recent comp on a par 3 with a pond between tee and green, a player's ball bounced on the water up the bank towards the green and then rolled back into the pond. The yellow stakes are 1m around edge of water. Can you please tell me where the drop must be taken as the player dropped between the pond and green - I believe within the hazard. I think it should have been from behind the pond in line with point of entry and flag.

If it cleared the 1meter distance to the boundary line created by the posts (exiting the hazard) before rolling back in (creating a point of entry) then drop that side, If it didn't exit the hazard then where it originally entered the hazard is still the point of entry for a drop

Hope that makes sense

I think you still drop tee-side of the pond.
You have to drop outside the hazard, no nearer the hole.
Think of Tiger's dodgy drop at the Masters - he couldn't have dropped green side....

If the ball is in the pond and you drop on the bank of the green, that is nearer the hole to where the ball is.
Tee side of the pond I'm afraid, so he was wrong

Yes, as above, straight line back from where the ball last crossed the hazard, over the pond and back to the tee side as that will get you to the nearest point it is possible to drop. You can then go back as far as you wish on that line. It can never be dropped in the hazard or nearer the hole. Sounds like it was actually in the pond but maybe worth remembering that if it's (say) right on the edge and playable then you don't have to take the drop.

Also remember that there is the 2 CLUB LENGTHS (NNTH) IS NOT AN OPTION for Yellow stakes - it is for Red ones though.

Back as far as you like in line with pin and last point of entry (on other side of WH to pin) or replay from same spot are the 2 options available.

AndI didn't state 'tee side) as there are occasional WHs behind the green! So Tee side would be wrong there! Fine in this case though.

Thanks all the ball was in the water directly between POE and hole, so he dropped between front of pond and flag. Maybe within hazard.
