Am off to the Lisbon coast at the end of August for first ever golf break (can't wait:D) and need to get a bag of some sort.

Has anyone bought they are particularly happy with or would avoid at all costs.

Theres some very cheap ones on fleabay but obviously they're carrying some weight and I want one that'll last.

I seem to remember a thread a while ago suggesting putting a broom handle or similar in the same length as the driver to protect shafts.

All tips and advice much appreciated!

Cheers

Wookie, I got a John Letters Deluxe travel case from DG for around the £50 mark. It's really good quality, plenty of space and well padded.
I generally head to Portugal a couple of times a year and I have taken to bubble wrapping around the shafts (weaving it round them) and then binding with tape (same for coming back) as no matter how much padding a case has you can never know what treatment it gets once out of sight at the airport(s).

Couldn't agree more on the packing side, bubble wrap and lots of it does the job.

I have an ogio cover which I paid around £80 for last year and it's pretty robust having survived 4 long hauls with connections but I have since looked at the Letters one too in DG and it looks easily as good if not better and at £50 decent value.

If you use a soft bag, make sure you get a broomstick (or similar) that is an inch or so longer than your longest club. It will save them from end on damage. :)

Having spent a summer as a baggage handler at Glasgow Airport while at Uni I recommend as much padding as possible as these guys don't give a foxtrot about your kit. Its a case of empty that plane hold and onto the conveyor belt as quick as possible without a care or thought of what's getting thrown onto the tarmac!!!!!

I bought a Srixon one which is ideal, good strong material and padding plus it has wheels for easy carriage.

Cheers guys - had seen the John Letters ones and they're cheaper if you buy a couple so will speak to the other guys going.

Thanks
