I am looking into a golf break in Spain this year and was wanting some advice regarding a travel bag.

I wont be using it frequently so I want to spend as little as possible but obviously I don't want something so cheap it doesn't have anything to offer in terms of protection.

Any recommendations?

I have the Titleist one that was around £100 I think. I have done a couple of trips and it has performed really well. There are some hard case ones that look great but are around the £250 mark.

I only paid about 40 quid for mine, its done multiple european trips and one to SA

Top tips

1. Look for one with plenty of padding at the top (can also wrap spare towels round heads when packing

2. They sell things called "strong arms" - intended to protect clubs if dropped on heads. A cheaper alternative is to put a broom handle in the bag a bit longer than your driver

3. Get one with wheels!

Enjoy the trip

Thanks for the reply's. Do you have a link to the £40 one you got? or know the brand?

Hmm, not sure where my response went, but wrote this earlier.....

I have a ClubGlove which came with a free stiff arm (https://www.clubglove.com/product/13/). Was a snug fit getting it around the base of the carry bag, but once in had more than enough room fro shoes and clothes packed in plastic bags, wrapped around the club heads for extra padding. A little dearer than some but very tough material with a lifetime guarantee. the only downside was the black scuff marks, but my fault for getting a light coloured bag. If you want the cheap option, one of my compadres just bought black pallet wrap, completely wrapped the bag and clubs, putting an extra roll inside the bag for the return. His clubs made it both ways intact without issue.

I have a srixon one, been all over the world with it and never had any bother, plus it folds up into a wee bag when not in use. Cost about £40 a few years back, not sure if they still make them though.
I turn the irons upside down and out the heads inside the bag, then support the woods with bubblewrap. I also put a sweeping brush in to take any hits instead of the driver. It's a set up that's worked well for me in over a dozen trips

Had a Sunmountain Clubglider previously which was great design and easy to maneouver, howeverit was quite tight and my new stand bag comoletely filled it. So got a Big Max Aqua which has 6 wheels on the base (2 large ones and then 4 smaller ones for wheeling it while upright) and its great. Well padded with metal stiffners built in. Warerproof too but not a real feature if going somewhere dry and hot to be fair.

Originally bought an Ogio Straight Jacket, as I hsve an Ogio stand bag, but returned it as it felt too flimsy to me.

Do you have it yet? What it like? Is it well padded?

I bought one of those last year, it's only been on a plane twice so far but seems fine. Not a huge amount of padding, I got a roll of bubble wrap to put around the club heads, stuck a broom in same slot as the driver and all was good. Plenty of room as well, I think it would take a cart bag happily.
