Been playing well recently and was confident of a cut coming up in the next 2 medals tomorrow and Sunday, swing is in good shape, putting is red hot. After a solid round yesterday went to play a game of five a side football not even 5 minutes in my calf ripped and I'm now on crutches with a grade 2 tear and if no better in 7/10 days may need surgery. Words can't explain how gutted I feel especially as the weather as picked up in our area .

Preparing for the shakes and the wife is preparing for constant moaning about missing the golf. Just hope my swing is in the same shape when I'm fit.

I feel for you, I managed to tear my calf this time last yr and then repeated the dose after I started back using it too early and missed a large chunk of the years golf, still get the odd niggle in it now a year on and wouldnt wish it on anyone.

Hope it repairs naturally but take it easy and follow doc/physio orders (unlike me!)

Doctor at a&e said ill need constant rest. As u said I don't want to risk it and miss most of the year. 10 days isn't to long I suppose

Sorry to hear.

Love football but would never play it nowadays. Too many mates losing months off work/life due to injuries picked up in friendly kickabouts.

Snap love watching and playing football but I'm never kicking a ball again. Strictly golf from now on.

Joined my first club last September, signed up for comps etc then 3 weeks later whilst stretching to reach a innocuous drop shot at tennis, my lower back decided to go into spasm with possibly the worst pain I've ever experienced. Finally managed to pick up a club again in January but was possibly too soon as physio said no sports until March. Luckily due to long winter I didn't play again till 3 weeks ago and my back feels ok but not 100 per cent.
So I feel for you mate. Fortunately, the invention of dvd boxset managed to contain my restlessness and frustration of not being able to play any sports for ages.

Feel your frustration... after injuring my knee playing football my GP asked me to list the sports I played regularly .... so squash, badminton, golf, mountain climbing, cycling and football I said. His response was I could either continue to play football and almost certainly wreck something which would curtail the other 5 or knock the footie on the head and enjoy the 5 for many years to come. I've only weakened and played football once since then and turned an ankle in the first 10 mins .

Tragic, as 5-a-side footie is one of humanity's finest inventions.

What boxset you get? Sending my wife in on her lunch break to pick one up

I can recommend loads, stick with American dramas and you can't go wrong. If you want more grown up stuff then I can recommend the west wing, soprano and the best cop show ever, the shield. Absolutely brilliant. If you want cliff hanger edge of your seat stuff every episode then stick with 24, prison break, the walking dead and Dexter. Entourage will also put a smile on your face and laugh out loud as well as starring lots of very attractive women.

I feel your pain, tore my Cartilage in December just as was about to put in some serious practice in prep for start of the season. So after keyhole surgery and a couple of months i'm back playing. But I will add that I'm hitting the ball better than I ever have, so break has actually done me some good. However I will say that once you can stand ok, that you should get on the putting green and put in some practice as this is where my game suffered. Plus dont rush it, as it will only make your recovery longer. Hope it's not as serious though and you get back on your feet soon.

Plus get youself onto some Game of Thrones if you havent already watched it

Game of thrones is class, thinking breaking bad, seen all the ones fitz recommended. Going to give it 10 days pure rest and hope for medal on 9th.

Fringe is a very good watch too. 6 series so should keep you going a good while.
I have stopped playing tournement paintball as I didn't want to risk hurting myself for fearing losing my season of golf.

Listen to the medical experts, better to rest now for however long they say than to try to come back early and do even worse damage/permanent damge.
