If someone plays your ball, do you have to get your ball and replace it or can you replace using another ball where it was hit from?

I'm thinking someone might have hit it 200 yards up the fairway. They might have even lost the ball.

I'm saying replace but maybe its a drop?

If its not immediately recoverable (within a few seconds) you can substitute another ball. It is replace except when you don't know the spot where it was (say someone from the parallel fairway hit your ball which you have just hit down there 250 odd) which would then make it a drop imo (20-3c)
