Playing on frozen fairways

Had a decent afternoon at Lochgreen. Temporary greens tho which was dissapointing but they actually ran quite well.

Some wonderful bounces on the fairways and a couple of approaches that refused to stop and crashed about 20 yards thru the green!

Played quite well tho, ended up with a net 67 (par 74) so i am currently a fan of winter golf!

..and if I may I'll add a note about yardages. Temporary greens - some well in advance of normal green - some hard fairways and ball bouncing a long way - sometimes not. Quite a few times I hadn't a clue of the yardage to the temporary green and obviously our distance markers not a lot of use. Our opponents used DMDs all the time to get the yardages - now tell me how in a match that is fair. And don't give me the 'well on temp greens and frozen ground it's not going to help them that much' Because it absolutely did. What do I do -pace the distance to every temporary green from my ball? Yeh right. No - I felt obliged to guess and get on with it. Fair?

No complaints from me.

A cheeky £25 better off thanks to a winter league win yesterday, betterball format over 13 holes, 34 points :D.

All temporary greens, but this year with the normal sized holes (the low handicappers were peed off with the high uns winning with the bucket holes).

The Bushnell range finder perfect for distances to the temporaries.
