Hi all, please advise etiquette on below
my playing partner hooked shot 30 yards right of green ( lefty ) and landed in bunker next to green of adjacent fairway ( bunker in between the two greens ), there were guys playing up to and then putting on their green, he waited for the first to play then quietly walked around their green to find his ball, one of the their players waited for him to walk all the way around before pointing to the bunker ( that he had walked past ) and gesture that his ball was in the bunker, my partner then waited for one guy to putt before walking around their green back to his ball, one guy then complained that my partner was putting them off ..... please confirm if my partner should sit and wait for them all to finish their hole. Or should they allow him to play

I always work on the premise that whoever would cause the shortest hold up should play first, in the above case that would be your partner assuming he would get it out first time.

Thank you , my partner did drop it on the green 1st attempt after waiting for all 4 to finish the hole, they showed no acknowledgement and acted as though my partner was at fault, cheers for the reply ... good to know

we were taught that the game on the highest hole should play first so hold up on 9th or 16th the game on 16th should have priority so course is not held up.

Thanks again
we we're playing the 3rd and they were playing the 16th
good guide to remember, it has stuck with me because they made no attempt to let us know where my partners ball was lying ( I have always been curteous to let other players know where their ball lies if I see it first )

Sorry - have I missed something here. Your PP was in a greenside bunker of another hole and then dropped it on the green. Why? I guess that you mean that he played from the bunker and got it on the green he had been playing to.

if so - guys on other hole were just looking for an argument. If you feel someone is in a position that might put you off - either your own group or from another group - you ask them to move - or as in the case of your PP - I'd have just told him to play so he was then out of the way and not holding up play behind your group.
