Does anybody else play better alone?

I’ve come to the conclusion that I do. When I play rounds with mates, my concentration goes and my swing goes to pot. When I am alone, my mind is totally focused on playing and not chatting about all things trivial.

Any one else relate to this?

Yes I like to play alone. Time to think and work on things. Plus run round as fast as I want (Oh and I am an unsociable sod to;) .)

This me as well. Just feels like there's time to do all the things I should be doing but get distracted from playing with mates:

Properly calculate the club I need
Consistent pre-shot routine
Swing at my rhythm rather than getting dragged into a p-ing contest with driver in hand.

I will almost always score better on my own. Proves just how important the mental side fo the game is.

I enjoy playing a round with others but you cant beat a game on yer' tod. I think you can wind down better after a hard week at work by playing on your own and if I've had a bad week then I dont enter the comp so there is no pressure and its more enjoyable.

The fun thing for me at the minute is playing rounds with strangers as my only friend who plays golf is my best mate and he is completely skint (new baby and he is a driving instructor). I'm particularly enjoying having a round with the old timers as I think they are helping me with my short game. I can smash a ball over 100 yards further than some of them but they are SH*T HOT around the greens.

On the whole, its a social game but its nice to have a quiet round once in a while.

Don't like playing on my own as I tend to only be able to play at busy times and it ends up taking 4 hours anyway as folk just don't let you through. I find I play much better when I'm playing with a good low h'capper as I focus more on my shots to try and beat them - not that I'm competitive...

I play quite a bit of solo golf and I quite enjoy it.
I wouldn't say I play better or worse particularly when solo but I think I can say that if I'm going to have a stinker then it'll always be in the company of others - you can guarantee that!
