I'm playing a new course later today and was wonder what, if anything, you do different before you play a new course.

I've had a nosey at their website and seen the course layout and also now have a GPS device which will take some of the unknown out of the course.

The website claims to 'have some of the best greens in Leeds'

Should be interesting.

Course management is key. Play each shot as you see it and just try to keep the ball in play. Pay particular attention to tee shots especially where water hazards cross the fairway or dog legs where cutting the corner isn't always the best line. All the sort of stuff we should do on our own course really :D

Didnt Leeds have some of the best snow in the UK until only weeks ago?
I wouldnt get my hopes up.
Hit what you can see and you will be fine.

I'm not expecting too much of the greens to be honest, I would imagine that the winter will affect most greens in the country most of the year.

Certainly on the quality of courses I play (Green fee is a tenner, I accept you get what you pay for)!

Before....nothing I can think of other than seeing if the club website has hole maps/descriptions.

Well, loved it. The course isn't in the greatest area, there were some nasty looking dogs been taken for a walk and down one hole, lined by gardens, there was a tyre fire causing a nasty smell!!

I've got a GPS device on my phone which was playing up and no 100 or 150 yard markers on the course made club selection difficult.

First half a dozen holes were poor, wasn't driving well and being short that causes problems. Then the driver clicked and I went par, double, par, par around the turn.

Shot 54 out and 54 back which is about where I was six month ago before the back injury so very happy and confident he scores will tumble this year. Second round with new irons and slowly getting used to them.

As for the greens they were being treated and were very very sandy. Not much grass and very bumpy. That said I do seam to putt better on poor greens and today was no exception.
