Player behaviour at the Ryder cup.

Providing its not too OTT, Like riding your driver; cowboy style, I don't mind it. It adds to the occasion, creates an atmposphere and pumps up the rivalry. Makes it more satisfying when we win.

Generally on a golf course I prefer better ettiqutte, but it is the Ryder Cup!

There is a certain level or rowdiness that would be acceptable on the course, but at the end of the day, you are still on a golf course so they should definitely be more reserved than in previous times

Interesting idea. Maybe clubs should introduce another thing to the long list of things you can't do when playing golf? Maybe something like:-

You are allowed to show a certain amount of emotion, for example a small movement of the fist and a quiet exclamation of 'yes', preferably under your breath and not in ear shot of your opponent. But under no circumstances are you allowed to get too carried away and bellow out 'get in the hole you little beauty' and then dance around in front of your opponent shouting 'Who's the daddy, who's the daddy now'. After all you are on a golf course, stiff upper lip and all that. Also no untucked shirts, no diving, no bombing, no petting.

Not keen on ott 'celebration' during the game if I'm honest. I can, and do, make an exception for the Ryder Cup though.

Wouldn't like to see it spread though. The yank crowds are off putting enough without the players going down that road as well.

And ALL the crowd have to stand in the HNSP

example being Geoff Overton at Celtic Manor while playing with Bubba. He hit a good shot in, but then the pair of them went crazy for about 5 mins, fist pumping and yelling “Com On”

I just don’t like this sort of thing on a golf course…. Makes you look a dick in my opinion.

Does anyone else dislike this behaviour?

I thought Overton and Bubba's reaction to holing out was absolutely brilliant, a burst of WOW! with plenty of passion mixed in. No different to looking at Poulter's reaction after making a putt.

BOOOOM BABY!!!

The American OTT celebrations will just make a European win even sweeter.

I hope they (USA) wind themselves up so tight the adrenalin causes them to loose distance control and hit wayward shots and the high fives are so hard they pull a muscle or two

I love it, it makes me more happy when we beat the yanks. I also love the players getting abused from the crowd (at the right time) and a real intense atmosphere.

Would I like to see it more than every two years? Hell no.

I'm all for a bit of excitement and the occasional fist bump and Cheerios and rival banter but you see with the american crowds it's bordering onto hooliganism just like football. You have fans shouting obscenities at golfers....wtf its a gentleman's game isn't it. As for most of the top european players now you could start classing them as american as you can hear in there accents ie: rose has the twang of american. Donald too. God I sound like a kill joy.

Errr, you do know what the "f" stands for in wtf, don't you?

That's like saying that a footballer shouldn't celebrate scoring a goal mid match 'because the game isn't over till the final whistle'! At the end of the day they are playing for Europe, yeah maybe it shouldn't be done at club level, but most of you lot need to get a grip and realize that it is one of the biggest sporting events worldwide and they have a thing called passion.

Long may the passion continue, wouldn't be the Ryder Cup without the same outbursts! I personally love it all going in the line and seeing the emotions that come with it!

If I was playing in a match where I could hardly stop shaking for my tee shot off the 1st, where my knees were knocking and I could hear a butterfly fart you bet I would whoop and holler if I sank a birdie putt or canned a 7 iron for eagle.
Long may it continue (as long as it doesn't get out of hand).

Possibly you'd do it if you parred the 5th at Blackmoor !! :whoo:

Exactly....I think it makes for great tv and a refreshing break from the hush hush etc with see week in and week out.

It's not football though is it? It's golf. Each to their own opinion though and that's perfectly fine but the only grip I'll be taking is on my clubs...

I think they've got it about right so far. Some moderate fist pumps and a few high fives. Nothing really excessive. Even the eagle and chip in celebrations weren't too over the top.
Galleries reacting to good shots whoever hits them

Think the main behaviour to worry about is the slow play from the Americans !! Furyk takes forever , both Mahan and Johnson are awful but Bradley is horrific
