I’ve just been watching some of the re runs of previous matches and the one thing that gets me is this, Eyes bulging going mental celebrations. A good example being Geoff Overton at Celtic Manor while playing with Bubba. He hit a good shot in, but then the pair of them went crazy for about 5 mins, fist pumping and yelling “Com On”

I just don’t like this sort of thing on a golf course…. Makes you look a dick in my opinion.

Does anyone else dislike this behaviour?

I do think they should keep the Haribo away from both teams. And the blue smarties

I remember that and I think doing stuff like that mid match is mental. Surely it just fires up you opponent? Don't mind a fist pump and a little word to yourself etc but they were really off the scale.

Luckily on the whole Europeans are more of the smiling assassin type so don't jump around like nutters at least until the deal is sealed.

You'd never catch me doing it, but I like seeing how much it means to them. I sometimes start to think bad things when I see Americans doing it but quickly realise I'd love it if it were our guys so I give them a break.

Like the caddy run thing and the novelties in the Masters & many other examples, I think its cool for a single event and really enjoy it but wouldn't want to see it year round

I don't like but it is a very American thing. It just makes beating them all the more pleasurable. I just hope the Europeans don't stoop to that level, be careful Mr Poulter.

I can't find the article now, but read a funny piece by a CBS writer about buying a TV big enough to contain Poulter's bulging eyeballs

TBH, Poulter's antics a very low key compared to the incident i've just watched on sky, I'm surprised Overton didn't do himself an injury;)

Generally I don't like it but in the electric atmosphere of the Ryder Cup with partisan fans cheering etc I think there is a place for it..... within reason!

It's an event unlike any other in the golfing calendar.

I warmed to the guy afterwards but Duval really did my head in at Brookline With his repeated double fist pump whilst walking round in a circle move.
Soley designed to get under the skin

Wouldnt surprise me if they brought along Christina Kim as chief cheerleader. Now she can annoy the hell out of anyone!

They are not like us, their American, enough said.

I hope they don't change though. After Medinah it was fantastic watching them and the crowd giving it the big one then pretty quickly turning a bit pale when Europe started charging on that last day :whoo:

Do you not think the American's do it on purpose? They know the European team aren't as bold and brash and probably know that the crowd might be slightly more European... so by doing the whole OTT celebration thing, they pump themselves up AND get under the European teams skin...?

I'm all for a bit of excitement and the occasional fist bump and Cheerios and rival banter but you see with the american crowds it's bordering onto hooliganism just like football. You have fans shouting obscenities at golfers....wtf its a gentleman's game isn't it. As for most of the top european players now you could start classing them as american as you can hear in there accents ie: rose has the twang of american. Donald too. God I sound like a kill joy.
