Hi guy's

I played today with a fella who has been itching for a game for the past few weeks. He talks a good game and even mentioned arranging a weekend at the Belfry.

So today we played. Now I don't mind waiting for the odd duffed shot or disaster bunker shots but this guy took about 15 shots to get to the green....EVERY GREEN!!!

Luckily it was only nine holes but it may as well been 18, took nearly 3 hours. Constantly asking me what he is doing wrong. To be frank I couldn't see what he was doing right.

What made it worse is that we let through a four ball who turned out to be worse than him!!!

It's a muni course, but I was really pi##ed off this morning as I didn't drink on the sat when I was out because I thought i would have a good game. Which I didn't.

However I did shoot a 35 (2 over) which is my personal best.

Just thought I would have a rant.

Feel a little bit bad because he was a really nice bloke. Just glad I played with him before any weekend away. Needless to say he's not comming to the Belfry!!!

Yep, this happens. On the other hand, sometimes you meet people who play great golf and are huge fun. You have to take the rough with the smooth. That's golf.

I think you need to have a quiet word with him. Something like "I thought your address looked a bit off on some shots. Not sure what the best way of fixing it is but when I addressed the ball badly a guy told me to go to a pro and he fixed it".

Hopefully it may be subtle enough to work and he'll go to a pro who will be able to sort his game out. Other than that be honest and just tell him he needs lessons before the Belfry will allow him on. He may surprise you and get tuition and become a decent golfer and that he would make a good partner for a trip there.

Just tell him he's a s**t golfer!!!

Seriouslt though, if he feels he's had a crap rond and has no talent for the game, I think he may well hang off asking you to play until his game improves.
