I'm not the worlds greatest mathmetician but after a week the GM team had received a thousand PYB applications. Consequently there is a significant chance I'll be on annual leave in March 26th with nowt to do. So I'm thinking up a back up plan and wondered if any other forumers fancied a knock in the East of England on the 26th as a back up plan or if you had come up with some other cunning plan?

Tiger, sounds like a plan. I have yet to book the day off but got 4.5 days to take before end of March so will book it soon.

Count me in, subject to clearance from HID and not being at the Ping fitting centre obviously.

If I get selected I will sell my clubs and donate all proceeds to Rick g's hfh fund, not booked the day off yet but safe to say I will no doubt have the same clubs come April :)

Might be able to swing the day off for a meet tho

I'm happy wherever. Although tbh would prefer not to play Forresters as quite enjoy having a change from it when I get the chance to play during the week.

Stoke-by-Nayland sounds good to me. Not too far away!!

I have to be honest given the sheer volume of entries I didn't bother. I know you've got to be in it and all that but I figured the odds were pretty remote.

At 59 years old and looking to break 70 off an 11 handicap, I thought my chances as less than remote. I don't see Ping confirming the "old boy" stereotyping of their equipment and I would have to play 13 under my handicap to break 70, that in a group that will include loads of 4 or 5 handicappers who will be a far better bet to break 70 than me.

I havn't sent mine in either (yet)

just got a tweet from GM saying over 1500 applications now :insertcryingsmiley: thats a good point Chris re the age thing, HOWEVER, surely it would be better for Ping to have a mature person who's never broken 70 rather than a young guy who might just be about to do it no matter what gear he has?

The mature route emphasises the fact that PING kit and Ping support enabled something that the person has never achieved in many years, ergo a younger person has even more benefit then if he buys Ping.

Thats my hope anyway as a 'mature' player who knows he can do it with a little support.

Would be interesting to know what the break down of applications is. Given the average handicap is 18 I reckon there'll be more in the break 80 category than anything else :insertnotthatitmakesmuchdifferencetheoddsarestilllongerthanthoseonathreeleggeddonkeytowinthenationalsmiley:
