Evening Guys

I have 5 days left and my season will be over as i will be heading to brazil back to work for a month so when i come back all the major comps etc will be over, So am looking into joining another course to get more experience. I will still play out my home course but am now looking for a new challenge.

I am also starting to write down a training program for myself for over the winter months an for pre-season at start of the year.

Also will be getting custom fitted for new driver and 3 wood.

Anyone else been thinking the same?

Yep. I've already been discussing with my teaching pro what isn't working. Definitely the driving is an issue as I've only hit 37% of fairways this year although my GIR figure of 23% is only one over where I should be for my handicap according to SS.

The short game is still a major weakness and we'll look at simplifying the action even more. I have some work to do on the backswong and still a lot to do on that lift in my downswing. If I go to change the latter though it will need a major reinvention as it has been in there for years. I'm not sure I can really be asked to rebuild it from scratch unless we can see a significant reason to do so. If not we'll look at minimising the movement and work on tempo and turn to keep it as simple as we can.

It sounds a lot and is probably not as daunting as it reads. A few tweaks here and there and lots of hard work to put it into practice.

I am moving house soon so have thought about a change of club tam stuck in the joining fee predicament. Paid mine over a few years so next year is my first year of paying fees only so would be a pain to go to another club and start paying a joining fee again.

No. Just dreading the time when the whites get taken in, the weather gets colder, and it's not as much fun as when the sun is shining.

I had a round a few weeks ago where everything clicked all at the same time so I don't want to change anything.
It hasn't happened again since but I've had a tantalising glimpse of what could be, so my plan is just to keep playing, aim for more consistency and try not to hit the cover off the ball - ever.

I went up for a beer yesterday. They have started preparing the temps. Not what I wanted to see. A little reminder winter is on the way.

Just going to make sure I get to the range at least one evening a week during Oct - Feb. Having not normally hit many range balls at all I believe I need to start to keep my game going.

Hopefully this will help my game next season.

I am playing better now than this time last year and have improved each year since I started playing club golf in June 08. Just looking to improve from my 18 handicap by the end of this season if I can.

I am however also planning to work on my swing as I have 4 lessons of a block of 6 still to take and work on over the winter. So who knows what will happen....same swinger, same sticks just a better swing.....hopefully

I have only been home for 4 weeks and i managed to get down from 5.3 to 3.1 cause i managed to hit some form. which is still going strong. The biggest help is my chipping. I had major problems with chipping before which i would struggle and would mean it would put more pressure on my shots into the green cause i knew my short game was poor.
One day a few weeks ago i read in a mag about chipping etc is lift ur right heel slighty to help with weight put forward. GOD it helped alot and am still doing it and i have improved majorly in short game so am not worried at all if miss green
Try it. it really works. Such a simple change but with major results. Just need to see my scoring the last 3 weeks.

Big changes for me this year, will almost certainly be moving clubs and need to play and practice more. Been too busy with work this year to dedicate any time anw club, and my game has suffered badly.

New club, new start

I'm contemplating a massive change for next year which will hopefully see a new, improved Smiffy.
I am smoking a cheap tobacco at the moment called "Look Out". Bought a job lot over in Belgium earlier this year 'cos it was less than three quid for a 50g pouch. Trouble is, it has given me a cough in the morning and I find I'm also coughing a lot more than usual on the course, especially when I have a fag hanging out of my mouth whilst chipping, or giving it an oink off the tee.
I think I will go back to either Drum or Samson. I might even try Golden Virginia, see if that helps.

sorry if this sounds rude, but your an amateur golfer, by the sounds of it your acting like your on tour...teaching pro!ffs. With the same handicap as me your thinking far too much about the game, just go and hit the ball and enjoy the sport.

I dont even know what lift in my back swing means.

Welcome to "Homers World".
It all works though.

You shaved 2.2, technically 22 shots better than your handicap in just 28 days!!!!!!!!

I find that incredible!

And given the number of medals in a month, I find it unattainable!

That's a 41% improvement in 4 weeks. Keep doing that and you'll be a Pro soon!

My plan for next season is to be healthy, no more than that.

I've basically quit this season, had a bad relapse with my left shoulder just over a week ago and I really have to let it rest. Was feeling much stronger but something went after an iron shot. Have played with a neoprene shoulder strap since but there is a real weakness there now and I know golf is doing it no good.

Not all my golf was at my home club. When am home i play in opens all over which shows i was able to get cut the amount i have.

Wouldn't go for Golden Virginia Smiffy, thats what you had at Ascot when you nearly coughed up a lung :D :D

Aim for the year was to get to 12 but im not 100% its gonna happen, worked all year on getting right of this draw through a flat swing plane and strong grip and it murdered me last night, 7 balls down, and 21 over after 15 playing off 15. not impressed.

Need to get my dodgey knee strong again and get to the rnage atleast once a week, HID will be notified tonight that a range night is now on the cards every week now twilight golf is going. During the winter even in the bad bad ive said i will atleast play a full 9 hole course that is close to me, but i have to be honest i hate wet golf, never liked it, never will.
