Pipeline Moe

Not sure about the straightest hitter ever but certainly considered by many in the know to be the finest ball striker ever. Wouldn't say he was eccentric, just very shy.

Apparently Moe suffered from social anxiety which stopped him reaching he's full potential and he was considered the straightest hitter hence the nickname pipeline.Check out the guys swing on ebay, wow!

The epitome of a 1-Plane swing!

Quite a few 'interesting' stories about him....hitting wedge, Driver rather than Driver, wedge; aiming for bridges across streams; shooting 59 aged 62;

Here's the first of a great set of vids about him. The second has some classic ;Moe-isms'!

Almost forgot about this fella, considered the straightest hitter of a golf ball ever if not a tad eccentric;

Anyone read Moe and me,Any good?

The book is OK in that it offers an insight into the guy and his issues as well as his golfing life. Some might consider it overly sympathetic and also query why, despite the aforesaid issues, the career achievements did not quite stack up.

Nevertheless there is no doubt that Moe's story is fascinating.

He was eccentric. The organisers forced him off the PGA tour, he used to lay down on the putting green if another player was taking a time, he used to hit balls off Coca Cola bottles, he slept in his car and wore some really odd clothes. One thing was for sure he could hit a golf ball exactly where he wanted to over and over.

Wasn't a very clear statement , was it? :rolleyes:

If you're interested read up a bit on him, there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing him in action. He has also been entered in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame for his achievements in golf. When he was older and fairly destitute Titleist gave him a Monthly pension in thanks for his lifetime promotion of their balls. There are also a couple of Golf Coaching Schools that promote his swing.

If your not then have a good one.

An excellent gesture by Wally Uihlein (Peter's father). Specially that.apart from practice, he 'only needed 1 ball'!

At least 1 (Natural Golf) of those Schools went belly up - now merged I think. While Moe was happy to assist the guys pushing the method, but always stated nobody should absolutely try to duplicate his swing - as that was his swing and you had to find your own!

about as clear as..... 'what?' :rolleyes:

what I've read and seen I find...... interesting, in fact fascinating.

Do you think these stories (7 8 9 11 and 12) are true?

oh dear! gotta laugh at that kind of response!

thanks for letting me make my own mind up :rofl:

My final comment to you on this as you are just being difficult. Your initial comment "Must just be me" was not clear, it added nothing to the debate and didn't ask a question. Regarding your question on items 7,8,9 11 and 12, as I said "make your own mind up" I am not inclined to wast any more time on it with you.
