Has anyone demoed or purchased the Ping G440 K driver yet?

Was planning on getting a Ping G440 once it gets discounted at the end of the year but now thinking the K model might be the better option

Have used a friends G440 and have enjoyed it but not sure the K is worth the extra cash

Currently using a Callaway XR16 which is now 10 years old so I am thinking an upgrade is due soon

Just looking for opinions from anyone who has got one

No, I don't own one, but I am also following the discussion very closely.

If you believe the reviews, it's currently the gold standard, at least in terms of forgiveness.

On the other hand, new models are constantly coming onto the market, and I think only very few people are able to tell the difference, let alone make use of it.

Yes, I've thought about it too, but given how badly I'm playing at the moment (just this afternoon ! ), I've put off any thoughts of new clubs for now.

Until I change my mind again … ! ;)

P. S.: Do you know this review ?

I attended a fitting today and I should have come away with it, but for not being a fan of matt heads, turbinators, or the sound.

Extremely long, straight and forgiving - a real cracker of a driver!

So you didn‘t buy it just because you „hate Ping“ ?!?

I just read your post in the other thread, and I don‘t get it : You stated yourself that „the Ping went really well“ !? 🤷‍♀️

I don't hate Ping at all. I have had loads, but just not the best looking in my opinion and another driver beat it hands down in all areas - FOR ME.

It did go really well, but against the fitters initial judgement, the TM beat it in distance, consistency, looks and sound.

The shaft made the difference - played with a few and the Ping was BY FAR better than anything else, until we introduced the TM.

I did say it was cracking and could have gamed it based on stats.

You played the Ping with the same shaft as the TM, too ?

Yes, we could see the Ping was the best choice for me, so zoned in the shaft for the best all round fit.

But against his initial judgement, moved into the TM with that shaft and it just worked really well.

I would have gone for the Ping, despite the bits I don't love about them, as it worked really, really well. The TM just pipped it.

Have been in the past quite partial to a ping driver, but now never look at them as I just don’t like looking down at those turbulators. I might be cutting my nose off to spite my face but I have to like the look of my driver.

I’m with you on this, one of the best drivers I ever owned was my G20, but with those turbulators there is zero chance of me even trying one. If I don’t like the look of a club I simply don’t want to hit it.

Wonder if Ping will ever drop the turbulators? Been around for about 10 years now.
They did on the G425 fairway and hybrids, if they thought it was a good idea i wonder why it was different for the driver?

fwiw, terbulators don't bother me. I use a G410 hybrid and a G430 driver with them, don't even know they're there after a few holes

while were talking about ping, I had a proper round with my G430 the other day, and while it was all roses and amazement on the range, my driving wasnt very good on the course, big fade, landing in play but not as straight as I've hit it before. So, I had a little deep dive into the swingweight and its D5 - 325g whole club with 33.5'' from the balance point to the end of the grip.

My stealth HD head weight was 196g, and my g430 max was 199g, and that was with a 22g weight in the ping, not a 28g weight in the back as standard, so it was missing 7g for the head to be 206g as advertised on the ping website. So I decided to grab a 28g weight and see how it goes, as I like a heavy driver. If it's not good, I will go down to the same weight as my previous driver.

I had a G410 and, whilst it worked, my driving wasn't in a good place and I blamed it on the turbulators....obviously it wasn't me...
Several models later and I'm back with the G440 Max which I won in a Pro shop competition almost a year ago.
I wouldn't say it's totally transformed my driving but I can now say I'm a mid single digit handicap because of my driving rather than in spite of it...
And I don't even see the turbulators anymore.
As to the 440K...if it's better than the 440M then it's one he'll of a driver but, ultimately, it comes down to who's holding it...
One driver, or any club, may be better in tests for one person but does it actually translate to a meaningful gain on the course...?
Real world results are what matters and with our shonky swings and inconsistent strikes I think I'm not convinced there's much between them.
If the K is more expensive then I'd go with the M, although with some reviews finding little real benefit, a decent 2nd hand M is an avenue worth exploring.

Ping worked well for me yesterday, better than anything else in terms of 'best at', but only on not perfect shots - ie. forgiveness. That is probably why not many pro's use them?

I needed a heavier head than my GT2 and the Ping provided that - it is a whopper, well disguised with its matt finish.

I would say it would have done me proud and saved a few wild shots per round, but chose the one which performs better when I am on my game.

Why would they? They obviously introduced them and then kept them for a reason, their testing must show that they actually make some kind of positive impact.
I’ve had 2 Ping drivers with the turbulators, so they don’t bother me.
Just surprising for me that they are slow to change things. Took them a long time to bring carbon into the heads too.
I guess this is just the way they do things at Ping.

Not sure who told you that not many pros play Ping drivers, but they're wrong, Ping has a big presence on tour every year.

Here's an article from GM last summer.

Sponsorship.
I remember hearing last year that the most used no-sponsored driver was the Titleist GT.
I tried it last year and to my disappointment just couldn’t hit it well.

Could be, im not 100% on that, I dont have the info.

But back in the days of the white heads, taylormade drivers, taylormade drivers were always top back then coz they threw money at pros to use their gear. Around that time, a local fella I knew through a friend, got his european tour card and the taylormade rep couldn't wait to sign him up, a decent size 5 figure sum just to use driver, and adidas shoes every month 😁
