PING G25 range launch - we've got the first video reviews

seen it and hit it back in November when we tested pretty much every single 2013 driver that wil be on the market - very long and forgiving. I play the Anser driver at the moment which suits me best as its so low spinning and i hit it pretty straoght anyway so dont need the added forgivness that G25 offers

Now you really are making us jealous Mike..... Any sneaky info on the TM offering?!?

Any news on an I version. Not a fan of the "bigger" G series in compariosn to the I's. That said these do look mighty fine and the driver in particular looks tempting

we have heard nothing on i series - can't see if being before the summer at the very earliest as PING tend to split launches and were working to 2 year product cycles (although G was 18 months)

I have the G20 and still love the club.

If I was or do look at upgrading my driver, the G25 is my first port of call. Visually stunning and if it's a patch on the g20 it'll have me sold.

Can't see me changing the fairways though, not because the G25's don't look the business it's simply that I love my G20 3 wood so much.

I have heard they will be priced very reasonably which is encouraging given that Titleist have overpriced their new range !

Loving the all black finish ... the driver is deffo on my radar :)

Looks like a nice range, love the matt black finish! Happy with my K15 driver at the moment but might have to have a look at the fairways if I can save up!

Having re-visited the videos again and spoke to MikeH the irons are growing. The driver looks mighty fine but I think I need to get an iron in my hand to see how well they play. Where and when do you want me to test them Mike?

Not sure I'd ever get on with SGI irons again but the rest of the range looks sweet!
Proper hybrids too!

Looks to even make me think about Pinging!

would the irons be classed as SGI or GI? I can definitely see lower handicap players using them

Whatever you want to call them, it's the amount of offset and the sole thickness that turns me off.....

ANy news on S56 replacements yet? They've been around a couple of years now, should be getting some S55's sometime...

I guess it's each to his own. I've had Ping irons for a while now so am used to the size and offset. I've just moved from the G10s to the G20s and getting on with them well...but the G25s look another improvement to me.

Before the S55s or other iteration of S irons I'd expect to see some I25s in the summer perhaps.

What I don't understand is how manufacturers can keep improving woods and irons every year. If the new ones are so much better, why didn't they produce them two years ago? What technology has changed in the last few years. Could it just be all cosmetic, and a sales ploy.:mmm:

They can't. Period. The biggest leap in technology years ago was the 460cc driver head which brought drivers to the golf masses for the first time. Since then not much has happened - just cosmetics.

And LOTS of marketing $$$$$ of course.

Nice colours though.

That's two of us that will not get picked for any club testing.

I currently play G15 irons and woods and was recently looking at a new driver. When I was originally fitted for the Ping driver, the trackman said the 12 degree performed better for me than the 10.5. Despite that, I stuck with the 10.5 because I know I don't have a problem getting the ball airborn and I was confident with 10.5. I've been very happy with my current driver, whilst I'm not as big a hitter as some on here, I can get the ball out there, but being a bloke, sales on, voucher in hand, I had a try of an RBZ (on sale would have been sub £100 with my voucher) in AG the other day. I tried it at 10.5, 12 and the 11. setting in between, the latter gaving me the best performance on the launch monitor. I felt the results were a bit too pat though, since each loft setting resulted in every shot taken for that setting, coming down in the same circles - or I may just have swung really well and true that day. Unfortunately I didn't have my own driver handy to compare with at the time so I haven't pursued it further yet. that may be a blessing in disguise now that I've seen the G25. An interesting point made by the AG guy, was that the 12 degree loft setting advised by my previous fitting probably was the best option at that time, since the G15 didn't have an 11. setting, but the 11. setting was certainly best for me in the test I did that day.

Now I don't really need a new driver......but, I really do like the look of the new G25 driver, it looks very classy to me, and the fact that it has an 11. setting with the adjust-ability makes it a driver that I definitely want to give a go. Fortunately my club pro stocks Ping so I'm sure that there will be one in the shop soon, which he'll let me try on the course for a few rounds to see how it plays :)

Seriously considering giving the G25 Hybrid a go when it comes out. Its the only club in my bag Im still not 100% happy with. Really digging the stealth look.
