Played with a club member tonight, who plays off 1, and he used to play with Titleist AP2's and a Titleist 910 D2.

However, earlier this year changed to Ping i20 irons, and says they are at least 1 - nearly 2 clubs longer for him. I played with Zing2 irons for a long time, and they were definitely at least a club longer than my current CB's, so its got me thinking !!

As well as that, he put a G20 Driver in his bag recently, and said he's never hit so many fairways, awesomely consistent he thought.

I'm hitting my irons pretty well, so unlikely I'll change irons quickly, but my 910 D3 isn't doing me any favors at the moment, or for a while for that matter, so G20 it might be......

Anyone else use either ?

Been there

Done that

Using something else

Will be using something else tomorrow.......probably.

G20's a good club and with the right shaft should be very playable. I can hit it straight but high and not overly far with a regular TFC shaft in it, long and not so straight with a stiff....

Worth a play.......

I know 2 single fig players dumped blades and now use i20's, both are 1 club min longer.
Cast v forged, cavity v blade, as they both said "the games hard enough, why make it harder"

Our Vice Captain recently changed to i20's with Stiff shafts a few months back from a set of Wilson Di9's in regular and gets at least a club extra distance. A few others got the G20 drivers and while they did lose distance they were getting amazing consistency and hit most fairways in regulation.

I really like the i series irons...have just upgraded to the i20 from i15s....only last week and a bit early to say if there is much of a difference. Anyway, when I first got the i15s used to hit them a bit high so sent them to Ping and got the lofts strenghtened by a degree or so. Now much better.

Before the Ping i had some Mizuno's MP 60 and then some Titleist CB 695 and traded them in for the Ping....hitting the irons much longer (at least a club) and a bit lower that the forgings. They originally had the stiff AWT shafts and got fitted and re-shafted them with some KBS tour 90 regulars.....wow what a difference that made to strike and consistency. So much so that i wanted more of the same hence the i20s.

I have also stuck with the G10 driver as i prefer the higher face of the G10 over the more elongated profile of the G15 and 20, nothing to do with performance.....just appearance.

Have a semi final matchplay tonight and have the i20s in the bag for that so will see how they get on under pressure.......!
