Morning all,

Just thought I'd let you know about the new range of Ping clubs that have just hit our office. There are some pictures of the G10 on our Gallery for you to look at... http://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=678

Jezz (GM Equipment editor) and I hit the driver yesterday. It looks very similar to the G5 and seemed to deliver some pretty consistent results.

Any thoughts from our esteemed forum users would be welcome...

Hi Neil / jezz

Is it me or do the irons look the same as the rapture and the G5's ?

is there any info as to how they are different ?

Also, what specs are available on the driver (loft / shaft options etc?)

Junior,

You're right - there are clearly elements of previous models in the irons. But that has often been the way with Ping who tend to go in more for progressive transitions rather than radical overhauls - with one or two exceptions over the years.

In terms of the G10 iron, some of the key differences to G5 are "extreme low toe weighting" to increase the moment of inertia for improved stability and forgiveness, and a wider sole than on the G5 (which admittedly was already pretty wide!). If the S58 is Ping's blade then the new i10 is its shallow cavity offering designed to sit between G10 and S58 in terms of playability - the kind of smaller blade profile that many better players prefer, but with a good degree of cavity back forgiveness still on offer.

The G10 driver will be available in 7.5, 9, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts and there will also be a Draw version in 9, 10.5, 12 and 13.5 degree lofts. Shaft options are Ping's new TFC129D, along with the Grafalloy ProLaunch Red and the UST V2 High Launch.

Hope this helps

Jezz

Thanks Jezz

Per my earlier post on the whats in the bag thread, I am on the look out for a new big stick and may give the G10 a shot.
