Hi all,

I have recently had a fitting for golf clubs, and have all my recommendations from the pro.

Can anyone recommend a reputable retailer to order these through? Looking to get them as cheap as possible.

It isn't my pro.

I would like to give the guy my business, as he was excellent during the fitting period.
But like everything in life, if the same product can be bought cheaper then I will try my best to source such a deal.

If the pro has gone to the trouble of custom fitting you I think its pretty poor to then take his information and go elsewhere!

What I would suggest is you look online and phone a few other professional shops and ask for the best price they can do the Pings for. You can then give the pro who fitted you a chance to price match or throw in some balls or a couple of lessons to sweeten the deal!

^ What Crawford said!

I hope the guy charged you for the fitting and didn't give it to you for free on the assumption that you are going to buy the clubs through him

Tightwad

There are some websites doing some cracking deals on fake clubs

Worth a look if you want to save a few bob...

If however you want to do it properly, get the clubs from the pro who did the custom fit

Its the right thing to do, which is what Golf is all about

Correct. I wouldn't be lousy enough to do that to the guy. He got £30 for 1 hour to measure up and make recommendations etc.
I will no doubt go back to him, but as he said himself, I am under no obligation to buy from him if I decide to order.

Gents, he was paid for a service, which was the fitting service over an hour.

I am all for giving local business a chance, however, if a better deal can be struck elsewhere then I am obviously going to investigate that possibility.

If buying a new car and local family dealer take you a test drive and offer you it at 10K, then you find out Arnold is doing at at 8k. Where are you going to go?

I have bought my shoes recently from a local golf club and the last load of balls I got was from the same shop at Greenock. Unfortunately, we don't have a pro at our place so I can't keep the business in house.

This particular pro, from as far as I can see, is not the normal club pro type shop. They are part of a sports retailer in Glasgow.

And again, as mentioned previously, I have not ruled out buying from him. If I can find cheaper elsewhere, I will give him the chance to match it.

Tough audience you lot !!! :-)

What are the clubs and shafts you want?

Recommendation came out as the following.....

Model - G20
Color Code - Green
Shaft (Flex) - PING CFS (R)
Length - Standard
Grip - PING ID8 (White)
Swingweight - Standard

He originally recommended 0.25 longer due to my height and wrist to floor measurements, but this didn't suit at all. The change to Standard and a slight amendment to lie angle resulted in about 15 shots all out the middle and going anywhere between 147 and 159 with the 7 Iron. The difference you feel in terms of confidence when you can see what is happening in terms of strike and also consistent end results is unreal.

Well worth the fitting, just need to put it into practice.

Try the Inverness Golf Centre....they were pretty competetive with my i20s and cheaper that AG. 01463 711572
