Phones

God am avin flash backs reading this. Youngest daughter ( that is a long story ) eventually persuaded me with much ear bending off mum. To let her have a mobile about 8 yr ago. Vodaphone allegedly did the best deal. Said phone was duly locked five weeks later by Vodaphone. She has run up a £200 plus bill. over two months. Said phone contract was cancelled. Oh was i a happy bunny:rant:

good luck with it mah man.

Found a old Samsung mini in the draw, got a giff gaff SIM on way to try, if all works going to try the fiver a month one.

Thanks for all the help.

tesco capped contract are the way forward. Uses the o2 network.. cheap contracts... and can set a buffer zone so they cant run up huge bills.. mine is set to £10 just incase I ever go over

How old is your son? What do his mates have? If it is incredibly basic then he may not want it as it would be embarrassing for him. Don't underestimate that. I'm not saying get an expensive phone but don't get him the equivalent of a pair of Dunlop trainers when his mates have Nike and Adidas.

Definitely this. My lad has old models that we have had, mainly only 2 year old Samsung or HTC's and the majority of his mates seem to do the same. Yesterday he dropped his S4 and blacked out the screen which would cost £70+ to repair, luckily we have my HTC that I've just replaced with a new model.

How times have changed, I remember when my biggest worry at school was if I didn't have a spare battery for the calculator at exam time
