PGA Tour accept Anchoring ban

They also want the ban to only come in for Amateurs in 2024..........

Not sure about that - the ban's not due for more than 2 years, surely that's enough time to make the switch..?

10 years of confusion and just prolonging the inevitable. Daft.

Face saving exercise imo.

Since when did the PGA Tour actually consider amateur players. It's not their role!

Glad we won't have two forms of the game although I accept that the pros do often play to slightly different rules, based on conditions of competition and LRs.

Are there that many Amateurs using Bellys and Brooms.....?

Yes it seems odd given that for there to be such a delay (if indeed that is what is proposed)

We nearly all had non-conforming drivers but I seem to recall only had about a couple of years notice of the change (can't remember exactly but I don't think it was very long). I guess it didn't need any change in technique though.

With wedges we all had non-confoming ones but have 12 years to change. But again no change in technique and most of us would change wedges well before then anyway.

they've clearly bowed to the pressure from the other PGA players who had morals and felt itwas wrong while the vocal minority who use them have had their day.

Next step is to tackle the insane distance the ball goes andbring back more shot making into the game.

That may be true, but is pure speculation really!

There is already a limits on ball distance. I'd be interested to find out how close the current balls are to that distance. I suspect they re quite close, in which case status quo is fine. I doubt they will ever reduce the distance the ball can go. It's just that players are now capable of hitting it much further! More US Open style courses? Let's see what happens if there's a little breeze in The Open!
