Pet hates on the course that other golfer's do ?

Yep, my bad, I have been arguing with my wife for a solid 4 hrs now and just happened upon this post. I was clearly not in the right frame of mind to be posting. However I do mean what I said, I just maybe should not have said it....

Always say what you feel at the time otherwise it gets pent up.. Its good to vent, keep it coming my man.

Have you got round to your side of the argument yet or is she still giving hers?

Partners who, on arriving at the 16th or 17th tee when you're putting a decent card together, announce what everyone's score is even though you have expressly asked them not to.

I have a mate who does it all the time, deliberately, because he knows it gets between people's ears. He will make an even bigger point of doing it if he's having a poor round himself. Gamesmanship, pure and simple.

That's just mean...

I hate it when playing partners say "you pulled it/pushed it/thinned it" - allright, allright I know that but hey thanks for drawing my attention to it even more!

The high handicapper who doles out advice as though he's Butch Harmon.

If someones a Cat 1 golfer I'll listen otherwise STFU.

Yes, I know I caught that one fat, didn't want to thin it into the bunker at the back or overcooked that downhill putt, thank you for stating the bleeding obvious.

Yeh there is a lot of weekend warriors who do that, the same ones who sit in the clubhouse and tell their mates they could have went round in 75 if they never went OOB on the first and had a treble bogie on the 3rd and 4 putted the 5th and then went on to lose a ball on the 12th..... you know the sort.

Know the sort! Thats the Pugwash fella I was descirbing who i've somehow been drawn with for 4 weeks on the bounce now! He is soul destroying

People who are not ready to hit the ball when it is their turn. Very irksome.

People that insist on playing for a lot of money. Why?

People who change in the car park.

People who don't stay for a drink afterwards.

And anyone who holds Tiger Woods in high esteem.

I am in the right but each time I explain that she tells me why what she did was ok so justifies it.... its unjustifiable so I am losing my rag. When we go on for as long as this it becomes sport for her so fun, like she is arguing with her little brother.

I would like a cigarette!!!!

I am with you on this and your last point, well once again your spot on:thup:

Generally ignorant people, manners cost nothing. We are all there to have fun after all.

And people who don't replace their divots or fix a pitch mark, it takes no time to do either.

So far we've had...

"People who don't wait until your out of range" and
"People who wait for ages then duff it 50yds".

So if the people in the fairway are a big drive away and I think I might reach them what should I do?

At the moment there are 2 things I'd rather not encounter in my golf.

1. Someone moaning ALL the way round about how unlucky they are or how bad they're playing even though they've hit lots of good shots and 2 bad ones.
2. Outdriving a partner all game then them thinking they should hit the same club as me on par 3's.

(Sorry Andy!)

One of my playing partners a few weeks back was insistent stood on the 18th tee that he knew the scores (Swindles we only use 1 card for the group) so I gave him the card and our 3rd player and myself said we didn't want to know - funnily enough the guy that counted up blobbed the last to concede a 2 shot lead!

I always wait until they are 20 or 30 yards further than my best hit, I still duff it now and then, I said about folk who wait in the fairway until you are 300 yds away or further and then hit when they cant hit 300 off the tee and then hit their normal shot of 150yds. :p

After reading this thread I have realised I hate everybody and everything that they do!

Can we now have a thread on what we like that they do?

Ha ha - me too!

I'll start. I like it when my playing partner brings scrummy chocolates and offers them to me (more than once)...

What irritates you on the course when you see other golfer's doing this ?
For me it is when you see some waiting until the green which is still 300yds away clears and then hit the ball 150yds, also when players stand on the green and start pointing and counting out there shots and mark their card on the green.

I hate it when people who are nearly 300yds away don't wait for the green to clear then nearly kill the people who are putting out.... or land it 50yds short just as the guy was about to make his putt for a person best round and the 'thud' puts him off.
