What irritates you on the course when you see other golfer's doing this ?
For me it is when you see some waiting until the green which is still 300yds away clears and then hit the ball 150yds, also when players stand on the green and start pointing and counting out there shots and mark their card on the green.

I believe it's a general lack of etiquette.

From where to leave your bag to who is next to play, all of it comes with time. However you meet these people who have been playing 20+ years and still can't put the flagstick in the hole without taking great chunks out of the rim of the hole.

People that want to rush round in 2 1/2 hours and if anyone gets in their way they moan about slow play. If you're that desperate to get off the course then just go straight to the bar (or more likely the car park)

Golf should be no more than 3 hours. I think your part of the slow play problem.

Super serious people who talk you through EVERY single one of their bad shots and how unlucky they were with a bad bounce, bad lie, bobble on the green. It happens, unlucky move on.

People who take an age to quiet down when you are getting ready for your shot.

People who hit their drive despite you still being on the fairway waiting for the green to clear and then shout "fore" as it bounces just over your head! I try not to wear camouflage but think I'm invisible sometimes!

Then the usual poor etiquette of counting shots/scorecard marking on or just off the green. Leaving bags and trolleys either in front or the wrong side of the green and strolling off at a snail's pace whilst you wait. Talking/shouting/banter with their mates with no regard to other golfers in the vicinity.

I'm usually pretty laid back on the course (apart from at myself!) but some days it tests the patience of a saint. Then I try to remember the Circle of Influence theory and move on!

Couldn't agree more.
Yes golf takes a long time occasionally but we all knew about this before we took up the game.
Never fails to amuse me when someone says "played golf yesterday, was great, got round in 3 hours" ... if that is the main thing you look for in a round of golf, I feel sorry for you.

Anybody with one of those extendable ball retrievers.

The people that spend five minutes working out the exact yardage to the pin with whatever combination of devices they have, then work out it's 240 yards (which is obvious without resorting to laser/gps/course planner etc). Their maximum distance with driver has been 220yds all day.

The two above are often the same person......

As Agreed with a previous poster.

People driving off the tee box when the group in front is still within mame range.

On Saturday I was playing in a comp. 3 lots of 4 all went out one behind each other. On our 4th hole the wind is behind you, everyone hit good drives of the whites. I caught mine a peach (about 250-260) the 3 others played and I was the last to hit. Just before I pulled my wedge out my bag I checked my yardage one last time and setup. Just as I was on my backswing I heard a little dink from behind. A group of 3 young lads (now I am only 30) had decided to tee off. I know that where I was standing was with the mame range. No shout off 4 and there ball trickled just about 5 feet from me.

We all then got to the green. I was last to put for a Par (4) and this other ball appears on the green. I ended up missing the put and taking a 5. I would have maybe gotten a 3 if I had not been put off by there tee shot and then shot into the green.

I then confronted them when they got to the green. There response was "oh we did not see you" given the fact I was wearing my orange puma jumper I find this hard. I then gave them a propper telling off cause I was mad.

anyway rant over

Mike

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Honestly what is funny about that?

What is difficult about hitting your ball, walking after it, a look at the green, waggle, hit it again????????

Golf is a straightforward game. People just bumble about because they are used to it. Three hours is all that is required to get round a course if you don't fart about. Some golfers need educated.

Mine is in for re gripping at the moment!

My pet hate ...... constantly being told by my regular partner that he hits a p/w from 150 ! does it matter if you swing like a gorilla now that you handicap has gone from 9 to 18????

my pet hate is when one of the people in your 4-ball needles the other team but the other 3 are more positive in their comments.
I enjoy banter and think it is a common aspect of golf but it is annoying when one person is being aggressive / offensive and the rest of the golfers are out there to enjoy themselves.

I must admit I hate this as well. I played with a guy at St Andrews who on the 1'st tee claimed he could drive 300+ yards. He tee's the ball up and skys it and it goes 100 yards if that. On the first par 3 which was about 170 yards he pulls out a 8 iron. I had a 6 in my hand. I managed to land on the front of the green about 10 feet from the flag. He meanwhile was 4 shots to the green and then 5 puts. :)
