Persimmon Homes

Moved onto a new build redrow flat 12 years ago. Tremendous, solid construction. So much so that the surveyor who came round to value it when we were selling told us that he'd been waiting for ages for one of them to come on the market.
Apparently he knew the development manager when the houses and flats were being designed and going up. The manager from redrow always said he wanted them to be absolutely solid, and they were. We didn't have any settlement issues in the 8 years we were there.

I'd buy from redrow again but I don't think they exist anymore.

Have to agree with the quality of the build. They are definitely going, well their website has a number of developments around the UK going up. We had several constructors on site but it was the Redrow houses that had the most interest and people trying to get their names down for a plot. Apparently there were 17 others wanting our house if we had dropped out (was never happening)

The most important factor of build quality for the volume builders is how good the site manager is pure and simple, you can look at the same house by the same developer on 2 different sites and the difference in build quality can be staggering, dont assume because the build quality of one house by a developer is good/bad then everyone else will be similar.

I had the joy of being a regional FD for a couple of the volume guys (as well as working for a couple of independents), which included overseeing the customer complaints department. Invariably I could tell which of the site managers it was without being told what site it was! The problem being that there really werent many good site managers and keeping hold of them within a large company pay structure was impossible (and they were paid a fraction of what they were actually worth to the company in terms of both reputation and money saved on rectifying customer complaints).

It gets even worse where you have split managers on big sites, you can have the same house 100 yards apart and wouldnt believe theyre built by the same company!

I wouldn't thank you for a new build house.

Everything is subcontractord out for very little money.

Just talking to me pals missis. Her company does work for them. She was telling me some of the (persimmon) mark ups on the services her company supplies. OMG.
Asked her about the quality if the houses. Rammel square houses she said.

Not sure what the fuss is about.
The guy entered a share bonus scheme a few years ago,

Under his tenure the company has done very well ( despite the lack of quality of their new builds) and the share price has tripled , therefore the value of his bonus has tripled.

It’s not like he has been handed £75 mil cash.

Fair play to him

I’ve got no problem with people earning big salaries or big bonuses, as long as they are deserved.

These people spend big , so it filters down to the shops, garages,
They also get taxed

Am I jealous of him, too right, lucky bleeder
