I have managed to get a Trojan or other malware on my PC. It"s the first one for years. I ran the programme through my anti virus (panda) it said it was clean but when I opened it it has installed some mal ware of some kind. I have tried Super anti spyware and malware bites but it hasn't, shifted it. I am running panda again but do not hold out much hope.I need help if anyone can offer it? I am not too bothered if I have to have a clean reinstall apart from my photos, if I put these on a disc would I be able to put them back on my PC if I run them through the virus checker again.

Register, for free, with PCHF and they will sort it for you without charge.
They've sorted me out on more than one occasion and I find them superb. I've used them enough times to have become a donor, but they never ask for donations.
As I said, registration is free ................. what have you got to lose?
Here's a link to the site I'm talking about,

http://www.pchelpforum.com/#software.405

You'll want the System Security sub-forum.

Good luck.

If it is an advert, which one?

Several ways to kill it, but more info required

Panda has just picked up a hacking tool, it says it has been neutralized. It is putting programmes on the desktop and there is a programme in my start list I do not recognize but when I try to delete it it reappears. I'm using Firefox.

Try downloading and scanning with another AV program. I use Avast (free version) and haven't had any probs.

In answer to your question re photos....Probably be fine, but you can't tell.

What makes you think you have a virus? As opposed to just another annoying pop-up?

What are the names of the 'new' programs on your desktop? And the one in your startup?

I am downloading chrome in case it is in Firefox. Just searched for chrome and I can see an ad banner on the bottom by ReMarkable. Never seen this before. I will check Firefox for add on's.

Super anti spyware has just found Trojan.agent/Gen-Kryptic. Hopefully it can remove it and this will solve it. What do you think?

SAS has been known to report false positives of this - in its own files!

It's an old virus, so I would have thought would have been detected earlier.

Not sure i trust SAS - in this case.

OK thanks, panda has found another couple of hacking tools and deleted them. Do you think this is the virus/Trojan?

Spybot Search & Destroy is all you need. Get rid of the rest and maintain a good virus scan regime and tight firewall.
