I have just sold the Ping wedges I had for sale here on ebay. For some reason Paypal will not release payment to my bank account. It is marked as pending? I have 100% feedback as buyer and seller and have never not sent something on time. Anyone know why they are doing this?

check the fine print on the paypal email you got, did the buyer pay by something called an "e-cheque" this is where they bank transfer the money to paypal, then paypal pay you once it has cleared.. usually takes 4-5 days.

how long have you been with Paypal? new users have all payments held for up to 21 days just to ensure things run smoothly

Had the same thing myself on 2 occaisions one where the buyers used a e-cheque, took about 7 days to clear and reach my account. The other time I had it to 21 days for money to clear and was due to the buyer claiming goods hadn't been sent, but fortunately for me I sent it recorded delivery and Royal Mail could prove he signed for it, so got my funds.

Sometimes, Paypal ask you to confirm that you are who you say you are, and not a trade seller avoiding tax. I sold a couple of grands worth of stuff over the course of a week a few years ago. Paypal wouldnt release the money until i'd jumped through a few hoops for them... IIRC, i had to transfer a pound into a paypal account, they then transferred it back to me.. A bit cloak and dagger really...

it happened to me a few weeks back, I read about it, I have been with paypal for several years and use it a wee bit. same address bank details etc, nothing for me has changed.
paypal however have been forced to offer speedier transfers, like when we transfer funds between bank accounts where there are sent within 2 hours. this is costing paypal money, so to combat this they are saying that they are carrying out security checks on you, that way they can maintain funds for longer periods.
not fair at all, email tham and ask for your money,, this is what i did after waiting 2 days, money came within hours, but very disappointing.

Happened to me last week.I sold 4 golf clubs on the same day,got paid fine for 3 and lo and behold my email address was wrong on the last one. It was an old address I've never used for eBay or paypal.took me ages to get the money through. Have no idea how my email changed, haven't used the old one for years

If I remember correctly this happened to me as a buyer a couple of years ago. I think it was because my debit card had expired. Once I had updated my account it was too late so had to wait for the payment to clear. Didn't happen after that.
