I was perusing the well known auction site last week and came across a few bargains and thought 'that will do the big man'.
Bummer, they all want paypal and mine is empty.
No problem, I'll transfer some money across from my bank account to the paypal account....shouldn't take long.

What the ..............
5-7 working days

Can someone explain to me why it takes seconds to send or receive monies to and from complete strangers yet 5-7 WORKING days from my own bank account?

Dont get me wrong, it's a great facility for buying and selling and quick in every aspect except when I want to move my money around.

So the money I sent from my bank account on the Thursday of last week at 9.00 still hasn't arrived.
Of course, the bargains have long gone

Do you not have a credit/debit card linked to your PayPal account? I. Never keep money in the account itself, but when I pay for something (on fleabay for example), it just debits my card and payment is immediate.

me too i also notice they are quite happy to speed money movements up at a cost!

Thanks, will look into that. I have tried to pay by card but it kept asking for paypal number. I may not have the card registered.

Ditto this Bob. Link a bank account and debit card. If the Paypal account does not have enough funds it automatically draws it via the debit card. Been doing this for quite a few years now and not had any issues. If there are part funds in the Paypal account, it uses them first and only takes the outstanding balance from the debit card.

I have a bank account linked but didn't know it would draw any extra money needed for a purchase automatically .
I assumed (wrongly it seems) that my 'offer' wouldn't go through due to lack of funds.
So I didn't have to miss that very cheap 'Home Dentistry Kit' after all ?
Bummocks :(

You have some of your own teeth still Bob? Wow very impressive!

Or is this so you can offer a two-in-one Golf Lesson and dental checkup session?

My paypal account is with my credit card so i have no problem buying anything it is immediate.

is it true that when someone pays you via paypal you cant touch the funds now for 21 days? seems ridiculous

No that's not true. There is a number of days (60 I think) in which a refund can be made. But you can utilise the funds immediately.
I use paypal a lot as I sell loads of vinyl records and have access to use or transfer the funds immediately.
If I then refund a payment then it's taken from my linked account - as if I was making a payment.

I don't know how you guys manage this. There is ZERO in my P/P account, so all purchases need to come directly from my bank account and the card linked to my account. It takes nearly two weeks.....f.g.s.
