A sure fire member in the Ryder Cup team?

Playing some supreme golf right now. Reminds me a lot of Steve Stricker, a quiet man who goes about playing superb golf with a minimum of fuss.

He has played some excellent golf today. He seems to be in total control of himself at the moment. Hope he continues to play well tomorrow.

He could be a great wildcard if he doesn't make the mark. He's got the experience needed to help a young team play well over there.

Well if he wins in spain, he'll be a hell of a lot closer to going than staying!
And with the form he's shown this year and last he'd be a strong candidate for a pick if he doesn't qualify.

do you not think that José María Olazábal is going to keep it spanish. I have a feeling that he is going to be very patriotic with Álvaro Quirós, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Pablo Larrazábal to name a few if there are wildcards to be had

I agree Lawrie has been playing some great golf but something tells me he is going to be overlooked, although he is currently 5 in the european points list

I think there's a good chance he'll qualify automatically
He's guaranteed another 154k this week, maybe as much as 458k - that takes him much closer to not needing a pick.

plus he has the BMW and the Open coming up, his "miss the US Open strategy" might just pay off.

Takes a lot for an Englishman to say that!

Lawrie has always been a great golfer and the work he puts back into grass roots golf is second to none.

Absolutely. Local hero for us Aberdonians, even those of us in exile.

Really hope he makes the Ryder Cup. Did really well the last time he made it and he's clearly a decent matchplay player.

IF it come down to the following 4 NOT qualifying, who would you take? these are the current world points list and the last number is the current european position. I'm thinking Molinari

9 Paul LAWRIE 123.81 5
10 Gonzalo FDEZ-CASTAO 108.12 6
11 Francesco MOLINARI 102.84 10
12 Ian POULTER 102.66 29

At the minute, easy... Poulter (matchplay god) and Lawrie (experience and form)...

There's 3 Majors, a WGC event and a few other big tournaments before we even need to think about Wildcards.
It could all turn around very quickly.
Of those 4 though -Poults and Lawrie......
